LION DANCE COMPETITIONOpen Lion DanceCompetition<strong>IOI</strong> Mall 2012USHERING THE DRAGON YEARIn conjunction with the Chinese New Yearcelebrations, <strong>IOI</strong> Mall <strong>Bandar</strong> <strong>Putra</strong>,<strong>Kulai</strong>jaya organized their annual <strong>IOI</strong> MallOpen Lion Dance Competition on the 15thof January, 2012. The co-organisers forthis event were Persekutuan Wushu, Johorand Persatuan Wushu, Naga Dan SingaLong Yi <strong>Kulai</strong>, Johor.The 12 troupes comprised of 5 Malaysian Troupes, 4Singaporean Troupes and 1 Taiwanese Troupecompeted for cash prizes worth RM3,000.00 alongwith trophies and medals.In the competition, each troupe was given 8 to 10 minutesto do the performance, accompanied by percussion setand judged by professional judges. All shoppers andguests were also entertained by Professional Wushu andDragon Dance performances.1 st PlaceThe objectives of this event were to promote the liondance as a healthy cultural and sport and to display theuniqueness of Chinese cultural activities to the public .Participants get to exchange ideas and thus, upgradetheir skills in the performing arts.
