Data sheetTellabs ® 1100 Multiservice Access Platform Series —GPON OLT ModulesOverviewThe Tellabs ® 1100 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP) Series featurescost-effective, standards-based access solutions. Designed to enablerapid creation of advanced, personalized point-to-point services toincrease competitive offerings and Average Revenue Per Unit (ARPU),the Tellabs ® 1100 MSAP series also offers a flexible infrastructure forfuture enhancements in capacity, efficiency and service mix.The Tellabs 1100 MSAP series consists of:• Tellabs ® 1150 Multiservice Access Platform– 9-rack unit, 15.75-inch chassis (40 cm)– 23-inch rack mount (58.4 cm)– 16 service slots• Tellabs ® 1134 Multiservice Access Platform– 4-rack unit, 7-inch chassis (17.8 cm)– 19-inch rack mount (48.3 cm)– 4 service slotsThe Tellabs 1100 MSAP series enables comprehensive trafficmanagement measures to support best performance for all servicetypes deployed, particularly voice. Working from the core to thefurthest edge of the network, the system provides an enhanced levelof traffic identification and prioritization. The core Tellabs 1100 MSAP series architecture that houses theOptical Line Terminals (OLT) for Gigabit Passive Optical Networks(GPON) utilizes a native Ethernet switching infrastructure with networkside interfaces terminating on the Ethernet Switching Unit (ESU). TheESU features a standard Ethernet switch design with extensions toadd security and management appropriate for a public network. The ESU operates as a L2/L3 Ethernet switch and provides L3filtering and visibility. The ESU supports Internet Group ManagementProtocol (IGMP) version 2/version 3 proxy and snooping for theprovision of IPTV service via GPON and Gigabit Ethernet Fiber-to-the-Curb (GbE FTTC), as well as DSL-based links. When deployed on the Tellabs 1100 MSAP series, GPON offers a varietyof additional benefits including more bandwidth, throughput andreach; standards-based security and network protection; and wideindustry acceptance and interoperability. The Tellabs 1100 MSAP series GPON modules are:• DOIU7 — 2-port GPON module• QOIU7 — 4-port GPON moduleThe major features of the Tellabs 1100MSAP series GPON modules include:• Compliant with ITU-T G.984 standard, based on the recommendations of the FullService Access Network (FSAN)committee• Delivers 2.4 Gbps downstream and 1.2Gbps upstream• Scales up to 64 PONs per MSAP• Converged delivery for voice, video anddata• Supports Transparent LAN Services (TLS)to the Optical Network Termination (ONT)• Nonblocking bandwidth connections withthe system switch fabric• Supports 1:32 split ratio; upgradable to1:64 (QOIU7)• GPON Encapsulation Mode (GEM)• Support for Forward Error Correction (FEC)• Supports Advanced Encryption Standard(AES)• Environmentally hardened, capable ofoperation out of a Central Office (CO)or remote cabinets• Support a full series of GPON ONTs,including Single Family Unit (SFU) andMultiple Dwelling Unit (MDU) models• IPTV and RF overlay video supportGeneral SpecificationsServices• Voice: Lifeline POTS and VoIP (SIP-based)• Video: IGMPv2/v3 snooping andmulticasting• Data: TR-101 compliant TLS, VirtualLocal Access Network (VLAN) and VirtualPrivate Network (VPN) tunnelingGPON Bandwidth• Downstream: 2.488Gbps• Upstream: 1.244Gbps
