• The right to inspect and review the student’s educational records within 45 days of the day theUniversity receives a request for access.Students should submit to the Registrar or other appropriate official written requests that identify therecord(s) they wish to inspect. The University official will make arrangements for access and notify thestudent of the time and place where the records may be inspected. If the records are not maintained by theUniversity official to whom the request was submitted, that official shall advise the student of the correctofficial to whom the request should be addressed.• The right to request the amendment of the student’s educational records that the student believes areinaccurate or misleading.Students may ask the University to amend a record that they believe is inaccurate or misleading. Theyshould write the University official responsible for the record, clearly identify the part of the record theywant changed, and specify why it is inaccurate or misleading.If the University decides not to amend the record as requested by the student, the University will notifythe student of the decision and advise the student of his or her right to a hearing regarding the request foramendment. Additional information regarding the hearing procedures will be provided to the studentwhen notified of the right to a hearing.• The right to consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information contained in the studentseducational records, except to the extent that FERPA authorizes disclosure without consent.One exception which permits disclosure without consent is disclosure to school officials with legitimateeducational interests. A school official is a person employed by the University in an administrative,supervisory, academic or research, or support staff position; a person or company with whom theUniversity has contracted (such as an attorney, auditor, or collection agency); a person serving on theBoard of Trustees; or a student serving on an official committee, such as a disciplinary or grievancecommittee, or assisting another school official in performing his or her tasks.A school official has a legitimate educational interest if the official needs to review an education record inorder to fulfill his or her professional responsibility.Upon request, the University discloses educational records without consent to officials of another schoolin which a student seeks or intends to enroll. (Note: FERPA requires that the University make areasonable attempt to notify the student of the records request).• The right to file a complaint with the United States Department of Education concerning allegedfailures by the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences to comply with requirements ofFERPA.GraduationAll degree requirements must be complete before approval to graduate is given by the respective programdirector. Formal graduation ceremonies take place in St. Augustine and in San Marcos three times peryear at the conclusion of each trimester. Confirmation of a degree is posted to the official academicrecord following commencement exercises. The graduation fee varies by degree level and is paid at thetime the student submits the Application to Graduate as noted on the Academic Calendar.Honors designation is given to entry-level, transitional and post-professional students who have earned acumulative GPA of a 3.50 – 3.64. High Honors designation is given to entry-level students who have18
