12 Annual Report 2010-11World Nut and DriedFruit CongressCongresses are held in May in a consuming or producing country. Thesemeetings are for top-level managers who join colleagues to discusstopical issues of vital interest, complemented by social programmes toconsolidate business relationships and relax in an informal atmosphere.This is an opportunity for nearly 50 participating countries with over 600attendees to discuss global production and consumption trends. Expertsin their respective fields are invited to present topical papers for discussionamong industry leaders.The largest Congress ever. The XXIX World Nut and Dried Fruit Congresswelcomed over 860 participants from 49 countries in Beijing (China), 21-23 May 2010. Congress attendees had 33 working group presentationsto choose from, which ranged in topic from market dynamics and newcrop estimates, to scientific research, nutrition and regulatory affairs,including the traditional INC working groups on tree nuts and scientificround tables, and international seminars on peanuts and dried fruits.
