The DSMMR is centred onstudent led reviews of the managementof medications and their effects onresidents’ cognition, falls/balance andcontinence.This placement will provide a settingfor students from the disciplines ofPharmacy, Occupational Therapy,Speech Pathology, Psychology,Dietetics, Nursing and Physiotherapy tocollaborate and understand the roles ofother healthcare professionals involvedin the management of residents in anaged care setting.A typical day at this placementwill consist of a team meeting andinformation gathering, a teamdiscussion and team presentations.Students are expected to have a degreeof independence, engage in some selfdirected learning, as well as educatetheir peers and Rowethorpe staffabout their profession and how theyas a clinician will contribute to theinterprofessional team to the benefit ofthe resident.There will be an opportunity to developprojects, run therapy sessions andcreate educational tools that canbe used in the care and support ofRowethorpe residents.
