CUCRH MT MAGNET IPPMt Magnet and GeraldtonLOCATIONSMt MagnetGeraldtonCONTACT/SKeryn BolteIPE fieldwork coordinatorCurtin UniversityTel: (08) 9266 9132Mbl: 0488 117 909Email: keryn.bolte@curtin.edu.auRobynne SnellProject managerCHIRI, Curtin UniversityTel: (08) 9266 9124Email: r.snell@curtin.edu.auSITE SUMMARYCUCRH and Curtin University areworking in collaboration to develop aninterprofessional community healthprogram with Indigenous health as a focus.<strong>Student</strong>s would start their journey inGeraldton for an orientation programwhere they will be introduced to GRAMS(Geraldton Regional Aboriginal MedicalService) and WACHS (WA Country <strong>Health</strong>Service) as well as a cultural induction tothe Murchison area.<strong>Student</strong>s will then move on to Mt Magnetwhere an excellent standard of studentaccommodation is made available byCUCRH. <strong>Student</strong>s will be introduced tothe Mt Magnet community by CUCRHstaff and the various health servicesprovided such as GRAMS, WACHSvisiting specialist services, Bidi Bidi EarlyChildhood Development and ParentingProgram, the Mt Magnet Primary Schooland community support services.<strong>Student</strong>s will be engaged in healthpromotion, clinical assessment,development and implementation ofcommunity health programs as wellas working with the health teamsestablished in Mt Magnet and thesurrounding area.Added to this, students will be allocateda cultural mentor, a local supportperson who has strong ties with bothcommunity and country.This is a unique placement that willpositively challenge students clinically,as well as provide an experience ofIndigenous culture they might not havehad the opportunity to experience before.
