This application is for the erection of a single storey extension to an existing storage building at
the reclamation yard at Aston Down.
The site is within the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the proposed building is parallel to
the road and adjacent to the field boundary at the rear of the site. The proposal is to erect a link
between the original double height storage building on site and a lower, smaller store. Another
extension to the other end of the store is also proposed.
The land to be covered by the store is currently used for outside storage. The additional covered
space will therefore have little impact and will simply allow goods to be kept dry. The parking and
turning arrangement remain unaltered from the original planning application and it is not
envisaged that the proposal will result in an increase in the volume of traffic visiting the site.
The proposal is located at some distance from the nearest residential properties and therefore
the proposal is in accordance with Policy G1 of the Stroud District Local Plan Revised Deposit
Version (as amended June 2001).
The design and materials of the building is similar to the agricultural appearance of the other
buildings on site and in keeping with the site's rural surroundings. The proposal is therefore in
