2013-2014 Biennial Budget <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong>, WashingtonArterial StreetsWith <strong>the</strong> successful completion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Southcenter Parkway Extension and <strong>Tukwila</strong> Urban CenterAccess (Klickitat) projects, <strong>the</strong> major changes for 2013 are:o <strong>Tukwila</strong> Urban Center Transit Center and Andover Park West street improvements arescheduled to be advertised for bids in January 2013, with construction to follow.o Interurban Avenue South has been scheduled for construction in 2014 as we were successfulwith federal and state transportation improvement grants and have been tentatively approvedfor a Public Works Trust Fund loan.o We received a $1,000,000 construction grant from Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) for<strong>the</strong> overlay <strong>of</strong> East Marginal Way South between South 82 nd Place and South Norfolk Streetwith a <strong>City</strong>’s match <strong>of</strong> $475,000.o We have added a new CIP project to incorporate <strong>the</strong> Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)requirements throughout <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong>. This project will include upgrades to <strong>the</strong> two majorpedestrian crosswalks on <strong>Tukwila</strong> International Boulevard in 2013.Parks & RecreationFunding for Duwamish River Hill Preserve, Duwamish Gardens, and <strong>Tukwila</strong> Greenbelt Trails are allincluded in 2013 - 2014.Facilities<strong>Tukwila</strong> Village development agreement was approved in December 2012 along with King CountyLibrary. The proposed CIP includes an analysis phase in 2013 for an overview <strong>of</strong> all <strong>City</strong> Facilities.<strong>Tukwila</strong> LeveeWith <strong>the</strong> 75% reimbursement for <strong>the</strong> removal <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Howard Hanson Dam Flood Control Measuresfrom <strong>the</strong> King County Flood Control District, <strong>the</strong> Super Sacks and Hescos were removed byNovember 2012 with full trail restoration to follow in spring 2013.WaterA significant water line replacement project is planned for Andover Park West in conjunction with <strong>the</strong><strong>Tukwila</strong> Urban Center Transit Center and Andover Park West street improvements.SewerSewer improvements include <strong>the</strong> Commercial Business District (CBD) Sanitary Sewer RehabilitationProject that received $750,000 from a Public Works Trust Fund Loan.Surface WaterProjects include <strong>the</strong> ongoing Small Drainage Program, Storm Lift Station No. 15, <strong>the</strong> Soils ReclamationFacility, GIS Inventory, and a new project to implement a Water Quality Retr<strong>of</strong>it Program.Page 343
