2013–2014 Biennial Budget <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong>, WashingtonGoals and AccomplishmentsDEPARTMENT: Public Works DIVISION: 501.01, 501.02FUND: Equipment Rental & Replacement FUND NUMBER: 501RESPONSIBLE MANAGER: Bob GibersonPOSITION: DirectorDescriptionThe mission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Equipment Rental unit is to provide a fleet <strong>of</strong> vehicles and equipment with anoperation maintenance and replacement program and to supply <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> with adequate, safe, economicaland on-demand operational cars, trucks and specialty equipment. Services are provided through inhouselabor and contracted services. The current fleet consists <strong>of</strong> approximately 193 vehicles and 134o<strong>the</strong>r pieces <strong>of</strong> equipment.2011-2012 Accomplishments♦ Utilized fleet management database to recommend a 10 percent reduction in <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong>'s fleet costs.♦ Implemented <strong>the</strong> Vehicle Procurement and Replacement Policy.♦ Implemented <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> Vehicle/Equipment Usage Policy.♦ Analyzed effectiveness <strong>of</strong> Idle Policy contained in <strong>City</strong> Vehicle/Equipment Usage Policy.♦ Completed by April 30 each year, <strong>the</strong> Condition <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong>'s Fleet Report.♦ Created comprehensive equipment replacement plan for sustainable funding for <strong>the</strong> fleet's capitalasset program.♦ Reduced fleet size and unfunded liabilities by 6 units.♦ Reduced towing cost by insourcing services and also insourced tire repair.2013-2014 Program Goals♦ Continue to promote fuel savings through <strong>the</strong> Idle Policy.♦ Continue to promote <strong>the</strong> Pool Car program for maximum use <strong>of</strong> shared resources.♦ Evaluate and adjust replacement plan for cost effective and appropriate replacement solutions.Page 327
