2013–2014 Biennial Budget <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong>, WashingtonGoals and AccomplishmentsDEPARTMENT: Public Works DIVISION: 01/02/98FUND: Surface Water FUND NUMBER: 412RESPONSIBLE MANAGER: Bob GibersonPOSITION: DirectorDescriptionThis program provides for engineering studies, preliminary engineering, construction, and maintenance<strong>of</strong> public surface water and drainage facilities to include control and monitoring <strong>of</strong> storm and surfacewater quantity and quality. The Green River Basin management agreement and <strong>the</strong> Green River leveesare also included in this program. The costs <strong>of</strong> operating and maintaining <strong>the</strong> system are included with<strong>the</strong> Capital Projects necessary for system improvements.2011-2012 Accomplishments♦ Completed Small Drainage Project identified on <strong>the</strong> approved list for 2011-2012.♦ Investigated through usage <strong>of</strong> TV, GIS, and flushing tasks to find unmapped systems.♦ Completed most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> adoption and repair <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> private storm systems that have been identified.♦ Continued development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GIS as-builts <strong>of</strong> city infrastructure that complies with NPDES.♦ Completed and adopted <strong>the</strong> Surface Water Comprehensive Plan.♦ River Valley support with neighboring jurisdictions and King County and removed <strong>the</strong> advancedmeasures against potential flooding as a result <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Howard Hanson Dam Flood Response Plan.♦ Closed <strong>the</strong> Vactor waste treatment site and started using King County's Soil Reclamation Facility.2013 Program Goals♦ Complete Small Drainage Projects identified on <strong>the</strong> approved list for 2013.♦ Create a database on water quality appurtenances.♦ Continue development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GIS as-builts <strong>of</strong> city infrastructure that complies with NPDES.♦ Begin construction <strong>of</strong> Storm Lift Station #15 improvements.♦ Begin design <strong>of</strong> Soils Reclamation Facility.2014 Program Goals♦ Complete Small Drainage Projects identified on <strong>the</strong> approved list for 2014.♦ Implement and manage <strong>the</strong> database on water quality appurtenances.♦ Continue development <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> GIS as-builts <strong>of</strong> city infrastructure that complies with NPDES.♦ Complete construction <strong>of</strong> Soils Reclamation Facility.♦ Construct Christensen Road Pipe Replacement Project.♦ Construct Gilliam Creek 42nd Ave S Culvert.Page 319
