2013–2014 Biennial Budget <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong>, WashingtonGoals & AccomplishmentsDEPARTMENT: Fire (11) – Ambulance, Rescue & Aid DIVISION: 526.800FUND: General FUND NUMBER: 000RESPONSIBLE MANAGER: Chief Nick OlivasPOSITION: Fire ChiefDescriptionThe purpose <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fire/Ambulance, Rescue and Emergency Aid division <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Fire Department is toprovide basic and advanced life support to <strong>the</strong> citizens and general public <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong> as well as withinour mutual aid response areas. Ambulance service is provided on a limited basis as outlined in FireDepartment Standard Operating Procedure. Current service levels include 100% <strong>of</strong> fire fighters trainedas E.M.T.'s and defibrillation technicians, and one aid car, three engines, one ladder truck, and onebattalion rig with emergency care capabilities.2011-2012 Accomplishments♦ Provided one department member to participate on Zone 3 EMS committee.♦ Evaluated status <strong>of</strong> department Pandemic flu supplies.♦ Provided CBT instructor training for all department instructors.♦ Provided first Aid/CPR and public access defibrillation training to <strong>the</strong> public and <strong>City</strong> employees.♦ Provided on-going advanced auto extrication training for department personnel.♦ Maintained, test and calibrate aid equipment.♦ Participated in new technology evaluations <strong>of</strong>fered by King County Medical Program Director.2013-2014 Program Goals♦ In cooperation with King County Emergency Services Division and Zone 3 EMS purchasingcommittee participate in <strong>the</strong> emergency medical supplies contracting bid for King County for years2013-2015.♦ Provide one department member to <strong>the</strong> Zone 3 (Kent, Renton, Sea-Tac, Federal Way, NorthHighline and Auburn) EMS Supply Purchasing Committee to cooperatively work toge<strong>the</strong>r toreduce time researching <strong>of</strong> equipment and supplies, Complying with new laws/ regulations, andcost <strong>of</strong> providing Emergency Medical Services to <strong>the</strong> public.♦ Cooperatively work with <strong>the</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Emergency Management to provide firstaid/CPR and public access defibrillation training to <strong>the</strong> public and <strong>the</strong> <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong> employees♦ Cooperatively work with <strong>the</strong> King County Medical Program Director to fur<strong>the</strong>r <strong>the</strong> education andemergency medical services provided by <strong>the</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong> Fire Department personnel to <strong>the</strong> public.♦ Work cooperatively with all King County Fire Departments and King County EMS Divisions in <strong>the</strong>transition to electronic medical records.
