This division maintains over 159 acres, including 3 fire station grounds, 11neighborhood parks, 3 mini parks, Fort Dent Park, <strong>City</strong> Hall grounds, <strong>City</strong> Pool grounds, <strong>Tukwila</strong> SkatePark, Community Center grounds, Japanese Garden, 15 foot trails, and 11 miles <strong>of</strong> major regional trails.A broad range <strong>of</strong> equipment and skilled workers are needed to maintain and improve <strong>the</strong> great variety<strong>of</strong> trees, shrubs, annuals, turf, irrigation systems, maintenance equipment, and outdoor play equipment.2011-2012 Accomplishments♦ Revised maintenance management plans to accommodate new budget direction.♦ Provided assistance to Recreation and Volunteer Divisions for <strong>City</strong>-wide events.♦ Provided park maintenance expertise in <strong>the</strong> design <strong>of</strong> Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase II.♦ Oversaw park enhancement projects.2013 Program Goals♦ Collaborate with Department Administration, Parks Commission and Arts Commission indesigning a Parks/Facilities and Arts Guide.♦ Collaborate with Parks Commission and Volunteer Division to develop and implement a “CleanParks” initiative.♦ Contribute park maintenance expertise in <strong>the</strong> design <strong>of</strong> Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase II.2014 Program Goals♦ Collaborate with Department Administration to develop park specific interpretive guides.♦ Provide assistance to Recreation and Volunteer Divisions for <strong>City</strong>-wide events.♦ Restructure maintenance operations and procedures from solo assignment to team approach.Page 131
