2013–2014 Biennial Budget <strong>City</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tukwila</strong>, WashingtonGoals & AccomplishmentsDEPARTMENT: Recreation (07) – Parks Admin DIVISION: 574.100FUND: General FUND NUMBER : 000RESPONSIBLE MANAGER: Rick StillPOSITION: DirectorDescriptionThe mission <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Administrative Division is to direct and support all o<strong>the</strong>r divisions with <strong>the</strong>irendeavors to promote and provide safe, positive leisure-time activities, events and facilities.All major park, aquatics, volunteer program, golf and recreation development, services and contracts arecoordinated and supervised by <strong>the</strong> administrative division. This division also interacts with all o<strong>the</strong>rdepartments and serves as staff to <strong>the</strong> Parks. Arts Commissions, <strong>the</strong> Library Advisory Board, <strong>the</strong><strong>Tukwila</strong> Pool Advisory Committee and <strong>the</strong> Sister <strong>City</strong> Committee.2011-2012 Accomplishments♦ Developed innovative methods to engage and connect <strong>Tukwila</strong> citizens and businesses to parksand recreation resources that contribute to leading a healthy lifestyle.♦ Applied for grants to acquire open space for future conservation and park areas as determined by<strong>the</strong> department’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan.♦ Designed regional trail connections that include new routes from 154th St. Sound Transit Station to<strong>the</strong> Green River Trail.2013 Program Goals♦ Establish a Parks Foundation to assist in funding Parks, Recreation and Open Space Projects.♦ Integrate Strategic Plan directives and Cultural Competency resources into <strong>the</strong> 2019 Parks,Recreation and Open Space Plan.♦ Design Phase II <strong>of</strong> Duwamish Riverbend Hill and seek development grants accordingly.♦ Develop interpretive programs for Duwamish Riverbend Hill and <strong>Tukwila</strong> Pond.2014 Program Goals♦ Apply for grants to acquire and/or develop open space for future park sites as determined by <strong>the</strong>2013 Parks, Recreation and Open Space Plan.♦ Construct Phase II <strong>of</strong> Duwamish Riverbend Hill.♦ Develop interpretive programs for <strong>Tukwila</strong> Park and Codiga Park.Page 121
