MASENO UNIVERSITYQUALITY MANUALNo. MSU/QMMEASUREMENT, ANALYSIS AND IMPROVEMENT 99.1 General<strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> defines, plans (secti<strong>on</strong> 7.1) and implements the m<strong>on</strong>itoring, measurement, analysis, andimprovement processes needed to assure c<strong>on</strong>formity and achieve c<strong>on</strong>tinual improvement of theservice/product and the quality management system. This includes the determinati<strong>on</strong> of the need for, and useof, applicable methodologies including statistical techniques.9.2 M<strong>on</strong>itoring and Measurement9.2.1 Customer Satisfacti<strong>on</strong><strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> m<strong>on</strong>itors informati<strong>on</strong> relating to customer percepti<strong>on</strong> (as to whether we have met customerrequirements) as <strong>on</strong>e of the measurements of performance of the quality management system. Themethodologies for obtaining and using this informati<strong>on</strong> are described in procedure MSU/VC/PR/01.9.2.2 Internal Audit<strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> c<strong>on</strong>ducts internal audits every six m<strong>on</strong>ths to determine whether the quality managementsystem c<strong>on</strong>forms to the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 and has been effectively implemented andmaintained.<strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> develops the audit plan bi-annually, taking into c<strong>on</strong>siderati<strong>on</strong> the status and importance ofthe activities and areas to be audited as well as the results of previous audits. The audit plan is revised aftereach audit and updated if needed. The audit criteria, scope, frequency and methods are defined. Audits arec<strong>on</strong>ducted by pers<strong>on</strong>nel other than those who perform the activity being audited. Procedure MSU/MR/OP/03 –Internal Audit identifies the resp<strong>on</strong>sibilities and requirements for c<strong>on</strong>ducting audits, recording results andreporting to management. Resp<strong>on</strong>sible managers take timely corrective acti<strong>on</strong> <strong>on</strong> deficiencies found duringthe audit. Follow-up acti<strong>on</strong>s include the verificati<strong>on</strong> of the implementati<strong>on</strong> of corrective acti<strong>on</strong>, and thereporting of verificati<strong>on</strong> results.9.2.3 M<strong>on</strong>itoring and Measurement of Processes<strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> applies suitable methods for m<strong>on</strong>itoring and, where applicable, measurement of the qualitymanagement system processes. These methods will dem<strong>on</strong>strate the ability of the processes to achieveplanned results. When planned results are not achieved, correcti<strong>on</strong> and corrective acti<strong>on</strong> will be taken, asappropriate, to ensure c<strong>on</strong>formity of the product.9.2.4 M<strong>on</strong>itoring and Measurement of Product<strong>Maseno</strong> <strong>University</strong> measures and m<strong>on</strong>itors the characteristics of the service/product to verify thatrequirements for the service/product are met. This is carried out as planned at appropriate stages of theservice/product realizati<strong>on</strong> process (secti<strong>on</strong> 7.1). Evidence of c<strong>on</strong>formity with the acceptance criteria isdocumented.
