<strong>2002</strong> • 23investmentsmajor projectsThe <strong>2002</strong> Investment Programconsisted of 18 projects; procurementsfor medium-capacity/medium-range(MCMR) aircraft, aircraft engines,aircraft components, computers,aircraft development, ground handlingequipment renovation, large fuselagelongrange aircraft, general distributionsystem, communication equipment,various airports premises building andenlargement, flight training, vehicleacquisition, building, furnishing andmechanization of cargo buildings invarious cities, maintenance-renovation(transportation sector), secondmaintenance base, revision equipment,maintenance-renovation(manufacturing sector) and the firstmaintenance base enlargementproject.The year <strong>2002</strong> Investment Program’sinitial budget of TL 139,330 billion wasincreased to TL 210,138 billion duringthe year.The total cash basis program accrualtotaled TL 34,426 trillion, 53% of the2001 Investment Program. When thetwo B737-800 passenger aircraftprocured through financial leasingunder the (MCMR) AircraftProcurement Project was included,total cash basis program accrual wasTL 143,069 trillion in total, 68% of the2001 Investment Program.Medium-Capacity Medium-Range (MCMR) AircraftProcurement ProjectTo meet <strong>Turkish</strong> <strong>Airlines</strong>’ mediumcapacity/medium-rangeaircraftrequirement, subsequent to ResolutionNo. 125 issued by the Board ofDirectors on October 6, 1997, anagreement was signed with Boeing for49 B737 passenger aircraft - 26 on afirm order basis and 23 on an optionalbasis.During the year, two B737-800passenger aircraft were procuredthrough financial leasing and as such,within the framework of theagreement concluded with the BoeingCompany, the procurement of 26B737 passenger aircraft on a firmorder basis was completed by the endof <strong>2002</strong>.Aircraft Engine ProcurementProjectThe project aimed to meet the enginerequirements for a variety of aircraft inthe <strong>Turkish</strong> <strong>Airlines</strong> fleet and withinthe scope of the project one B737-800aircraft engine was procured duringthe year.<strong>Turkish</strong> <strong>Airlines</strong> offerspassenger reservation servicesdirectly over a single telephonenumber (444 0 THY - 444 0 849)via its Call Center. Calls receivedfor Miles&Miles and internetsales are also serviced over thisnumber.
