Are they sitting comfortably – and safely?Your passengers of all sizes need to feel comfortable and safe whenyou’re driving them. And since 2006, regulations have made itcompulsory for children to be properly seated and secured, whether they are in the front or rear of a vehicle. The UK regulationsThe law states that children under 3 years of age MUST travel ina child seat appropriate for their weight, in both the front and rearof vehicles (with the exception of the rear seats in taxis). If anappropriate child seat is not available they are not allowed to travel. As safe as you’d expectYou can be safe in the knowledge that our range of child seats havebeen engineered to meet the high standards of safety and qualityexpected from Mercedes-Benz. They are specially designed for yourMercedes-Benz vehicle, and to suit the age and weight of your child. Not only do BABY-SAFE plus, DUO plus and KIDFIX meet allcurrent legislation and safety standards – they actually exceed them. And that’s tried, tested and proven with stringent laboratory andcrash tests. From the age of 3 to 12, a child’s height is the deciding factor. All children up to 135cms (approx. 4’5”) in height must also use anappropriate child seat or booster cushion. This means that a 7 yearold who is 140cms tall may use an adult seat belt. An 11 year oldwho is 130cms tall must use a child seat or booster cushion. As a driver, if you are convicted of failing to ensure that a childpassenger is using an appropriate child restraint or wearing a seatbelt according to the legal requirements described above, you couldface a fine of up to £500.More detailed information is available atwww.thinkroadsafety.gov.uk and www.childcarseats.org.uk

AKSE (Automatic Child Seat Recognition)If a child seat is fitted in the front passenger seat and the passengerairbag is deployed in an accident then there is a risk of seriousinjury to the child. But if your Mercedes-Benz is fitted with AKSEtechnology it will automatically detect a Mercedes-Benz child seatthat is fitted with the AKSE transponder and disable the airbag. *ISOFIXThis fastening system used in Mercedes-Benz child seats is a quickerand safer way of fitting the seat in the vehicle. Rather than usingthe vehicle’s seat belt, as many traditional seats do, it uses a lockmechanism on the seat that engages with a metal bracket secured tothe chassis of the car, for secure fixing with a single click.Their safetyYour peace of mindThe Mercedes-Benz range of child seats makes it easy for you toensure that even your smallest passengers are safe and comfortable. With three types of Mercedes-Benz child seat to choose from, youcan give your child exceptional in-car protection tailored to age andsize, from birth to age 12.*AKSE is not fitted to all Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Please refer to your local Mercedes-BenzOfficial Workshop to confirm if AKSE is fitted to your vehicle.
