Platinum Spot 5R6. LAMP INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONSInstalling or replacing the lampFor a proper and safe lamp change, please read this chapter carefully and follow allinstructions.Lamp Protection CircuitryBecause of the nature of the extremely short gap of the Platinum 5R Lamp and the tightnature of the internal optical system it is imperative that the lamp be replaced every 2000hours. This is done to protect the internal optical system as well as prevent accidental lampexplosion, which could lead to hot glass particles falling from the fixture. Failure to changethe lamp within 300 hours of operation will result in automatic shut down of the fixtureselectronics.At 2000 hours the display will begin to flash “Replace The Lamp.” At this point the lamp hasreached its’ maximum rated life and should be replaced immediately. The fixture willcontinue to operate for an additional 300 hours, however the “Replace the Lamp” warningwill continue to flash. After 2300 hours the fixture will shut down after two minutes ofoperation. The fixture will continue to shut down every two minutes after main powered isapplied until the lamp is replaced. To replace the lamp follow the safety guidelines andprocedures below;Safety Regulations• Always replace lamp every 2000 hours.• Disconnect the unit’s main power supply.• If you unit has been running, please allow the unit to cool for at least 10minutes before attempting any type of service.• Before the Platinum Spot 5R is put into operation be sure all covers havebeen replaced, otherwise you risk damage to the retina and expose to UVradiation!• When replacing an old lamp, always be sure to replace with an approvedreplacement.
