CARRIAGE LIMITER ADJUSTMENTThe Carriage Limiter adjustment should be done when you have troublebooting, or have a compatability problem between drives (i.e. one hastrouble reading what the other writes).This adjustment sets the position of the read-write head so that itmoves to the correct position whenever the drive seeks track 0. It is arough adjustment. It should always be followed with the head radialadjustment.Materials needed:1. <strong>Apple</strong> ][ system with known-good disk drive and interface.2. <strong>Disk</strong> Calibration <strong>Disk</strong>ette (P/N 686-0006)or<strong>Disk</strong> Alignment Aid diskette (P/N 652-0199)3. #0 and #2 Phillips screwdrivers4. Small flat-bladed screwdriver ("tweeker")5. Feeler gauge (.020")6. Drive to be adjustedTo adjust the carriage limiterSet-up1. Turn the <strong>Apple</strong> ]['s power off.2. Install the known good <strong>Disk</strong> Interface card in slot 6.3. Connect the known good drive to the Drive 1 position of theInterface card.4. Remove the cover from the drive to be tested. Connect the drive tothe Drive 2 position on the Interface card.5. Remove the screws that hold the analog card, and remove theread/write head wires from the clips on the right-side analog cardsupports.6. Lean the analog card toward the back of the drive (Make sure thatthe head wires have enough slack to allow the carriage to move toits forward limit. To check, slide the carriage by hand to itsforward limit.
