around the yardsUK Contract for Sembmarine SLPSembmarine SLP Limited (SLP),a subsidiary of <strong>Sembcorp</strong> <strong>Mar</strong>ine,has won an approximately£7 million contract in <strong>Apr</strong>il 2013to fabricate the bridge and flarestructures for Nexen PetroleumUK Ltd’s Golden Eagle Project inthe North Sea, United Kingdom.Both structures as well as the project’sLiving Quarters Platform, which SLP isundertaking the engineering, procurementand construction, will be scheduled fordelivery in May 2014.The bridge, which provides personneland service access between theProcess, Utilities and Quarters Platformand the Drilling Platform, will have a spanof about 70 metres and an estimatedweight of 550 tonnes while the flare isalso approximately 70 metres long withan estimated weight of 225 tonnes. The bridge and flare structures as well as the Living QuartersPlatform (graphic view as above) were contracted to SembmarineSLP by Nexen Petroleum UK Ltd for the Golden Eagle Project.This is a very important award for us, as it underlines theconfidence that the Nexen team has in SLP, and in additionit provides a step towards the growth and continuity plannedfor our business, employees, and client base.Mr Paul Thomson,SLP’s Managing Director.Sembmarine SLP Wins MFP Exclusive LicenceSeahorse Platform Partners Ltd (SPPL) has awarded Sembmarine SLP Limited (SLP), a subsidiaryof <strong>Sembcorp</strong> <strong>Mar</strong>ine, an exclusive licence in <strong>Mar</strong>ch 2013 to use its patented SEAHARVESTER andSeaHorse technologies in the design and construction of Minimum Facilities Platforms (MFP) forthe North Sea, Irish waters and other territorial waters of the UK.In addition, SPPL and SLP have signed a Memorandum ofUnderstanding for another exclusive licence for use of the twotechnologies in South East Asia and Australasia (excludingMalaysia and Brunei). ship repairsRevitalising Stay for VesselsMaersk Atlantic ready to go.Jurong Shipyard extended its warm hospitalityto visiting vessels in the months of <strong>Mar</strong>ch and<strong>Apr</strong>il 2013 during their stopovers for repairs andmaintenance works.Two vessels from Maersk Line Ship Management were spottedin the yard between <strong>Mar</strong>ch and <strong>Apr</strong>il. First to arrive in <strong>Mar</strong>chwas the 1,092 TEU containership Maersk Atlantic. Workon the 155.0m x 25.0m x 13.90m vessel included bow thrusteroverhaul, repair hull fittings and hull anode installations. Tocomplete her repairs, the vessel also received hull blastingand painting before leaving in the same month.Next to reach the yard in <strong>Apr</strong>il was Olga Maersk, a 3,028 TEUcontainership with dimensions of 237.0m x 32.5m x 18.15m.The vessel received overhaul works on the bow thrusters,electrical motors, funnel pipes and sea valves. The yard teamrenewed her hatch cover channel bars and shaft seals as wellas performed hull and garnet blasting, washing and painting.DL Calla, a 50,743 dwt LPG tanker from DLShipping Co. Ltd Korea, arrived at Jurong Shipyard inFebruary 2013 to receive major steel tank repairs. In addition to valves overhaul, load test andengine overhaul, the 128.60m x 20.40m x 11.50mvessel also received hull spot blasting and paintingbefore leaving in February 2013.Between February and <strong>Apr</strong>il 2013, the yard repairedthe 16,775 dwt chemical tanker Algoma Hansa fromAlgoma Shipping Inc. Works performed on the144.05m x 23.28m x 12.40m vessel included bridgewings modifications, rudder stock bush renewal aswell as cargo tanks blasting and painting.In the midst of repairs.The yard was also visited by the 29,682 dwt<strong>Mar</strong>e Di Venezia owned by Gestioni Armatoriali inthe month of <strong>Mar</strong>ch 2013. Major repairs carried outon the 182.90m x 32.25m x 19.10m tanker includedsteel works, main engine overhaul, tailshaft withdrawalas well as ship side blasting and coating, prior to itsdeparture within the month.Leo Osaka, a 2,762 TEU containership from TokeiKaiun Ltd, stayed at the yard in <strong>Apr</strong>il 2013. Measuring234.62m x 32.20m x 18.80m, the vessel underwentengine room seawater pipe renewal, main engine aircooler cleaning and propeller polishing. Implement”, the eventwas graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Hawazi Daipi, SeniorParliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Education andMinistry of Manpower, in the presence of management,employees and partners.
