DAS ZIEL
DAS ZIEL VON ROTARY
Das Ziel von Rotary ist Dienstbereitschaft
im täglichen Leben. Rotary sucht diesem
Ziel auf folgenden Wegen näherzukommen:
Erstens durch Pflege der Freundschaft als
eine Gelegenheit, sich anderen nützlich zu
erweisen.
Zweitens durch Anerkennung hoher ethischer
Grundsätze im Privat- und Berufs -
le ben sowie des Wertes jeder für die
Allgemeinheit nützlichen Tätigkeit.
Drittens durch Förderung verantwortungsbewusster
privater, geschäftlicher und
öffentlicher Betätigung aller Rotarier.
Viertens durch Pflege des guten Willens
zur Verständigung und zum Frieden unter
den Völkern durch eine Weltgemeinschaft
berufstätiger Mitglieder, geeint im Ideal
des Dienens.
Selten hat ein Rotary-Jahresmotto so gut für das
Group Study Exchange Programm GSE gepaßt
wie in diesem Jahr:
Gemeinschaften bilden – Kontinente verbinden
Mit diesem Programm soll jungen Berufstätigen
die Möglichkeit gegeben werden, mit anderen
Berufstätigen im Ausland zusammenzukommen
und bei dieser Gelegenheit Freundschaften aufzubauen
und Informationsaustausch zu pflegen.
In diesem Jahr findet der Austausch mit dem
Distrikt 2730 auf Kyushu, der Südinsel Japans
statt. Unsere Gruppe besuchte Japan in der Zeit
vom 26. Sept. bis 22. Okt. 2010.
Insofern fand diese Tour lange vor dem Ausbruch
des Vulkans Shinmoedake in Süd-Japan und
dem Tsunami statt. Vor dem Hintergrund der
Folgen des Tsunamis hoffe ich, daß die japanische
Gruppe bei ihrem Besuch in Deutschland

im Mai/Juni 2011 etwas Abstand zu den großen
Problemen im eigenen Lande bekommen wird.
Bei ihrem Besuch in Hessen werden wir versuchen
ihnen einen Eindruck in unsere berufliche
Welt zu vermitteln und sie gleichzeitig in das
Leben in deutschen Familien einführen.
Ich bin sicher, daß der Besuch der Japaner bei
uns ähnlich unvergesslich sein wird, wie von
unserer Gruppe im vergangenen Jahr in Japan.
Auf diese Weise haben die beiden Gruppen die
Möglichkeit, auf der einen Seite ihr Land dem
Gastland näher zu bringen und auf der anderen
Seite einen bleibenden Eindruck des Gastlandes
mitzunehmen.

Dear GSE Team from RI District 2730,
dear friends within Rotarian,
This Rotarian year’s theme: “building communities
- bridging continents” is unique in embracing and
matching the objectives of the existing GSE Program.
This spring we are privileged to welcome you, the
GSE Team from the Southern Japanese Island
Kyushu, as ambassadors from your district 2730
and your country.
However, this year’s exchange is very different from
all our 23 before. You come in a moment where we
all still are shocked and frightened from the dramatic
and global consequences of the Sendai earthquake,
the following tsunami and nuclear catastrophe. We
all are deeply impressed by the strength and the
courage of the Japanese people and would like to
express our warmest feelings. We silently honour
those who lost their lives, and who suffer from
endless and lasting damage.
The more we are very pleased that you now are here.
We are excited to learn and understand more about
the uniqueness, the beauty and the culture of your
country as well as about your personal and vocational
dreams, wishes, objectives, and strategies.
Our Rotarians and your host families are looking
forward to share with you during the upcoming four
weeks insights into our life styles, our history, our
culture, and our Rotary life.

is spirit and soul of the GSE programme.

Programm für unsere japanischen Gäste vorbereitet haben.
Danken möchte ich RC Wiesbaden, RC WI-Kochbrunnen, WI-Rheingau, WINassau, Hanau-Maintal, Bad Vilbel,

Makiko ist mit 36 eine junge Teamleiterin.
Nach Studium der BWL in Japan und England
(MBA), beginnt sie in einer Strategie- und Marketingberatung,
bevor sie im elterlichen Familienbetrieb
die Leitung des Planungsbereichs
über nimmt – darunter als Kern ein Beerdigungsinstitut.
Seit vier Jahren im RC Kokubu ist sie im Bereich
GSE engagiert. In ihrer Freizeit spielt sie gerne
Tennis und Golf, läuft Marathon und ist künstlerisch
mit Malen und Ikebana aktiv.
Sie ist vor allem an unserem Leben, unserer
Geschichte und an Rotary in Deutschland interessiert.

Klavierlehrerin

Ai ist 37 und stark der religiösen und ernsten Musik
verbunden. Aus einem Pianohaus kommend
hat sie Klavier studiert und gibt heute Konzerte
und Unterricht.
Sie war bereits wiederholt in Deutschland und
freut sich darauf, hier die Orgel zu spielen, Klavierausbildungsklassen
zu erleben, Konzerte zu
besuchen, und gerne auch selbst kleinere „Konzerte“
zu geben.
Sie freut sich auf Kirchen und Museen, möchte
dabei „unsere“ Gottesdienste mit Orgel erleben,
nicht ohne ihr Karate zu vergessen.

Architekt

Daisuke ist 29, arbeitet mit großer Freude in einem
Architekturbüro, das Schulen, Eigenheime
und Krankenhäuser plant.
Er liebt an seinem Beruf die Chance, die Träume
seiner Auftraggeber umzusetzen und die damit
verbundene Verantwortung zu tragen.
In Daisuke’s Überzeugung hat das Design der
Gebäude gewissen Gesetzen zu folgen. Dabei ist
Erfahrung der Schlüssel zum Erfolg.
Besuche historischer und moderner Gebäude
und Gespräche in Architekturbüros sollen ihm
dabei helfen.
In seiner Freizeit liebt er Golf, Surfen und Baseball.

Reiko ist 27 Jahre und mit ihren Eltern in der
Vereinigten Staaten aufgewachsen. Nach dem
Studium der Soziologie und Geschichte arbeitete
sie in New York als Anwaltsassistentin im Bereich
Private Equity.
Zurück in Japan arbeitet sie heute im Bereich
Buchhaltung und Verwaltung des familieneigenen
Unternehmen, das in Banken, Krankenhäusern
und Firmen Telekommunikationsanlagen
installiert und Überwachungssysteme betreibt.
Reiko hat ein bereites Hobbyspektrum von Geschichte
und Religion über Literatur, Theater bis
zum Baseball. An Deutschland interessiert sie außer
ihrem Beruf die preußische Geschichte, unser
Bildungssystem, Kirchenbauten und die deutschjapanischen
diplomatischen Beziehungen.
Takeshi Oshikawa
Ergotherapeut
toshikawa@phoenix.ac.jp
Takeshi ist Beschäftigungstherapeut am Gesundheitszentrum
der Kyushu Universität. Sein
Schwerpunkt liegt in der Betreuung seniler Menschen.
Er forscht an der korrekten Haltung für den
Rollstuhl im Alltagsleben.
Sein besonderes Interesse in Deutschland wird er
auf die medizinische Ausrüstung und Ansätze im
Bereich der Demenz legen.
Seine Freizeit verbringt er mit Tennis, Golf und
Karate.

DISTRIKT 1820
Some insights:
Hesse
lies in the centre of Germany. Its total area
of 21,115 square kms is populated by over
6 Mio. people. The Rhine-Main area includes
Hesse’s largest city Frankfurt and the
state capital of Wiesbaden.
History
The name “Hessen” was first recorded in
the 8th century. In an encyclical letter
dated 738 to Boniface, Pope Gregory III
refers to a “Populus Hassiorum” (Hessian
People). The state of Hesse was founded in
its present shape in 1945 by the American
occupying power. In 1946 the people of
Hesse then voted in favour of the state’s
newly created constitution in a plebiscite.
Economy
Hesse has developed into one of Germany’s
leading economic centres as well as one of
Europe’s most dynamic regions. Hesse is
an international financial centre (European
Central Bank), an important location for
industry and technology (Opel), an interna-
tional trade fair centre (International Motor
Show) and an important hub of transportation
(Fraport). Hesse often forms the launchpad
for futureoriented ideas.
Financial Centre
There are over 300 domestic and international
banks in Frankfurt am Main. Together
with the German Federal Bank, the German
Stock Exchange and the European Central
Bank (ECB) this gives Frankfurt a leading
position in Germany’s financial life and an
outstanding role in Europe. Over 90 per
cent of Germany’s stock market trade is
carried out in Frankfurt. Ever since the euro
was introduced, monetary policy for the
eurozone has been regulated from
Frankfurt.
Culture
Hesse’s cultural landscape offers a mixture
of metropolitan vitality and rural charm.
Outstanding international events include the
Frankfurt Book Fair, the Rheingau Music
Festival and the “documenta” art exhibition
in Kassel. Each year “Hessentag” is celebrated
in a different community – this year in
Oberursel right next to Bad Homburg.
Outstanding cultural institutions include the
Städel art museum in Frankfurt.
There are four UNESCO world heritages in Hesse:

Science
Hesse has five universities, five universities of
applied science and two art academies for
150,000 students. These institutions are
part of a dense network of educational facilities
which also include 33 completely separate
research institutes. The average number
of patents registered per capita in Hesse lies
above the Federal German average. The
peace research institute Hessische Stiftung
Friedens- und Konfliktforschung is a think
tank for political counselling.

DISTRIKT 1820
Lifestyle
Frankfurt am Main is a melting pot of cultures,
languages and philosophies of life. Visitors
simply have to taste Hesse’s “national drink”:
Apfelwein (apple wine). The locals also call it
“Ebbelwei” or “Äppler.” This drytasting “drop
of stuff” or “Stöffche” is served in a “Bembel”
(earthenware mug) or in “Gerippten” (glasses
with a diamond pattern), and is often
preferred as “Gespritzter” with a shot of
mineral water. The Apfelwein bastion is in the
Sachsenhausen district of Frankfurt with its
many little cellars and cosy pubs.
Rotary in 1820
Our district 1820 has 65 Rotary Clubs and
almost 3.500 members. A couple of
hundreds you will get to know within the next
thirty days by visiting up to 10 clubs and
during the district conference.
They all feel ignitiated by the Rotarian idea of
„Service above self“ and like to share with
you the idea of building communities and
bridging continents.
