37CHAPTER VIIICDS AND ROLE OF PRIS AND GBSThe Department is presently implementing the following Social Welfare<strong>and</strong> ICDS Schemes in the District:-a) NATIONAL SOCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMME (NSAP):- Thescheme came into effect from 15 th Aug/1995. NSAP scheme includesthree components out of which NMBS has been transferred to the HealthDepartment <strong>and</strong> presently only the following NSAP schemes are beingimplemented by this department-I) NOAPSII) NFBSThe NSAP is a 100% centrally sponsored program -I. NOAPS (National Old Age Pension scheme):- Financialassistance is provided to the age group of 65 years <strong>and</strong> abovepersons @ Rs. 75/-p.m. per beneficiaries. During 2005-2006 Govt.has accorded fund of Rs. 889200/- <strong>for</strong> 988 beneficiaries.II. NFBS (National Family Benefit Scheme) :-The scheme has aprovision <strong>for</strong> one time financial assistance to the widow/ dependenton account of the death of primary bread earner of the family. Suchfamily will get a lump sum of Rs 10000/- from the Govt. During2005-2006, the department has received an amount of Rs.780000/- to assist 78 beneficiaries <strong>and</strong> accordingly scheme hasbeen implemented.b) STATE OLD AGE PENSION SCHEME (SOAPS) :- The Scheme isfunded by the State Govt. out of its own resources. The schemeprovides financial assistance @ Rs. 150/- p.m. per beneficiaries. An oldman attaining 60-65 years of age is entitled <strong>for</strong> this benefit During 2005-2006 Govt. has accorded sanction <strong>for</strong> 125 beneficiaries <strong>and</strong> an amountof Rs. 2,25,000/- has been distributed.c) BALIKA SAMRIDHI YOJANA(BSY) :- This is also a centrallysponsored scheme. According to the guidelines on account of birth of agirl child in a BPL family an amount of Rs 500/- is provided as grants/scholarship. Scheme only 2(two) girls children of a below poverty linefamily is eligible <strong>for</strong> Rs. 500/- as a post birth grant/Scholarship who isborn on or after 15 th Aug/1997.The amount will be kept in an interest bearing account in favour of thegirl child by the CDPO till the girls attain the age of 18 years. When the girlstart schooling she is also entitle to Annual Scholarship @ Rs. 300/- up toclass I-III ; Rs. 500/- in class IV; Rs. 600/- in class V ; Rs. 700/- in class VI-VII; Rs. 800/- in class VIII <strong>and</strong> Rs. 1000/- <strong>for</strong> class IX-X.
