193 rd Immunization week - 11 th Dec’06 to 18 th Dec’064 th Immunization week - 22 nd Jan’07 to 28 th Jan’06 <strong>and</strong>5 th Immunization week - 26 th Feb’07 to 5 th Mar’07During these immunization weeks, Immunization sessions in different villagesin every circles of the District are organized. Taking advantage of thesesessions, PRI members, <strong>Gaon</strong> Buras <strong>and</strong> public leaders, NGO can in<strong>for</strong>m<strong>and</strong> motivate the people of their areas of the special immunization drive <strong>and</strong>motivate them to avail the opportunity to get their children vaccinated againstthe six killer diseases of childhood. They can actively co-operate with thevaccination team in mobilizing the beneficiaries <strong>and</strong> in immunizing them.<strong>Gaon</strong> Buras / PRI members, being the village / area representatives can playa Major role in implementing all schemes. They must ensure that the villagersextend their hearty <strong>and</strong> healthy co-operation to all the field functionaries as<strong>and</strong> when they visit their villages <strong>for</strong> any health programmes.(B) ROLE OF GB / PRI PERTAINING TO IMPLEMENTATION OF NVBDCP(MISSION MALARIA CONTROL)Government of India has launched IMCP <strong>for</strong> early diagnosis <strong>and</strong> prompttreatment of Vector Borne Diseases. For instance during 2006, the DistrictAdministration of Lohit District <strong>and</strong> the Health Department had launched amassive programme titled ‘MISSION MALARIA CONTROL’. covering all thevillages including the remote <strong>and</strong> in-accessible, under this programme.Resultantly during subsequent period despite epidemic like situation inneighboring Assam where hundreds died because of Malaria, malariaincidence in Lohit district was reduced by 50%.Every year we loose many precious lives because of Malaria. It is worthmentioning that with the active cooperation from all we should be able tocontrol the Malaria very easily. For this matter GBs / PRI leaders of concernvillages can play a vital role.1. SURVEILLANCE WORKS:Villages are divided into sections where a DHV is posted <strong>for</strong> surveillanceactivities. During the visit of the DHV, it is the duty of GB / PRI leaders to giveall sort of helps to DHV <strong>for</strong> smooth surveillance works. If DHV is not visitingthe villages, concerned GB/PRI authority should in<strong>for</strong>m the concerned officerimmediately. Surveillance2. INDOOR RESIDUAL SPRAY (IRS):Indoor Residual spray with DDT is one of the major components of NVBDCP.During the spray season, many houses are found either locked of the villagersrefused DDT spray. It is the duty of concerned GB / PRI leaders to convincethe villagers <strong>for</strong> spray operation.
