Causes of law and order: - Past experience shows that, law and orderissues can arise because of the following reasons:i) Land disputeii) Clan disputeiii) Property disputeiv) Marriage disputev) Business rivalryvi) Political rivalryvii) Crime against propertyviii) Crime against human beingix) Crime against women and children02 When and where crime occurs most:i) where there is maximum concentration of mixed floating populationii) Among the lowest income classesiii) Among the addicts (Alcohol and drug)iv) Professional criminals who commit crimes for gain03 Role of GB: GB and PRI being the representative of government andthe public, they can play a significant role in maintaining law and order inthe society. They should act like a bridge in between the public and thelaw enforcing agencies. They being responsible and respectable citizenshould come forward to assist the administration and Police when eversituation arises. There are some important law and order issues whichcan be resolved by GB / PRI.i) Organizing VDP (Village Defence Party)ii)iii)Settlement of petty disputes at village / Panchayat level as per localLaws / precedentEncouraging village youths in social constructive works / gamesand sports / culture etc. before the youth go to the wrong directioniv) Protection of government properties in village areas likegovernment establishment and vital installations.v) Identify criminals and report to Police.vi)Maintaining records of petty criminals and their activities.vii) Report to Police when ever stranger / suspicious person visitsvillage.
