100Request for obtaining information1) A person, who desire to obtain any information under this Act shall makea request in writing or through electronic means in English or Hindi or inthe Official language of the area in which the application is being madeaccompanying such fee as may be prescribed, to—a) The Central Public information Officer or State Public informationOfficer, as the case may be, of the concerned public authority.b) The Central Assistant Public Information Officer or State Assistantpublic Information Officer, as the case may be, specifying theparticulars of the information sought by him or her.Provided that where such request cannot be made in writing, Centralpublic.Information Officer or State public Information Officer, as the case may be,shall render all reasonable assistant to the person making the request orally toreduce the same in writing.2) An applicant making request for information shall not be required to giveany reason for requesting the information of any other personal detailsexcept those that may be necessary contacting him.3) Where an application is made to a public authority requesting forinformation:-i. Which is held by another public authority, orii.The subject matter which is more closely connected with thefunctions of another public authority, the public authority, to whichsuch application is made, shall transfer the application or such partof it as may be appropriate to that other public authority and informthe applicant immediately about such transfer.Provided that, the transfer of an application pursuant to this sub-sectionshall be made as soon as practicable but in no case latter than 5 days fromthe date of receipt of the application.Rate of Fees:SL.
