AIR-COOLED CONDENSERA dirty condenser restricts airflow, resulting in excessivelyhigh operating temperatures. This reduces ice productionand shortens component life. Clean the condenser at leastevery six months. Follow the steps below.! WarningThe conde nser fi ns are sharp. Use care whecleaning them.n1. The washable aluminum filter on self-contained aircooledice machines is designed to catch dust, dirt, lintand grease. This helps keep the condenser clean.Clean the filter with a mild soap and water solution.2. Clean the outside of the condenser with a soft brush or avacuum with a brush attachment. Clean from top tobottom, not side to side. Be careful not to bend thecondenser fins.3. Shine a flashlight through the condenser to check for dirtbetween the fins. If dirt remains:A. Blow compressed air through the condenser finsfrom the inside. Be careful not to bend the fanblades.B. Use a commercial condenser coil cleaner. Followthe directions and cautions supplied with thecleaner.4. Straighten any bent condenser fins with a fin comb.5. Carefully wipe off the fan blades and motor with a softcloth. Do not bend the fan blades. If the fan blades areexcessively dirty, wash with warm, soapy water andrinse thoroughly.WATER-COOLED CONDENSER AND WATERREGULATING VALVEThe water-cooled condenser and water regulating valve mayrequire cleaning due to scale build-up.Low ice production, high water consumption and highoperating temperatures and pressures all may be symptomsof restrictions in the condenser water circuit.Because the cleaning procedures require special pumps andcleaning solutions, they must be performed by qualifiedmaintenance or service personnel.44 Part Number 80-01111-9 7/10
