® Nitrogen Tire Filling SystemsOffer the Most Productive and Profitable Solution.Why is the industry switching to nitrogen?How nitrogen works andwhat it doesNitrogen (N2) makes up the majority ofthe air that we breathe and is containedin the protein of all life on earth. It iscolorless, tasteless, and non-toxic. Thenext most common component of air isoxygen (O2). Together N2 and O2 makeup approximately 99% of the air webreathe and traditionally fill tires with.N2 is a largermolecule than O2.Therefore, itcannot escape aseasily as oxygenthrough porous material such as arubber tire wall (carcass). Leaking at amuch slower rate than oxygen, a tirefilled with a higher percentage of N2maintains its proper pressure roughlythree to four times longer than air-filledtires. Proper inflation provides better fueleconomy, superior handling, longer tirelife, and increased safety by reducingthe likelihood of low pressure relatedloss of control, blowouts and othertire failures.N2 is a dry, inert gas.O2 in a tire provides unwanted oxidation.Over time, this reaction destroys the tirecarcass and corrodes wheels. A tire isprematurely aged by O2 from the insideoutas the pressurized air in the tiremakes the O2 try to escape through thetire carcass, speeding up the damagingoxidation process.
