Commemorative tribute watercolor Since 2005, Sponsor Tribute Plaques have been presented to the Memory Walk Sponsors in appreciation for their generous support of the walk.The 2008 artist is 19 year old Paige Heinen, a student at Edmonds Community College. Paige created the digital art piece to celebrate the diverse backgrounds and cultures that unite around the Alzheimer’s cause at Memory Walk. All photos of the walks are available online at www.alzwa.org on the various walk web sites. Photos from the Pacific Northwest Memory Walk can also be viewed and purchased online at www.TeamPhotogenic.com/9017.The proceeds of the online sales will benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. 8 Tasteful Evening a resounding success! With meals prepared tableside by 16 local top chefs, the Alzheimer’s Association 4th Annual Tasteful Evening delighted 192 guests with delicious food and a lively auction.The sold-out fundraiser brought the best and A raspberry chocolate desert dazzled diners. brightest food-loving Seattleites to Bell Harbor on June 12th in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. An evening of dining pleasure kicked off with a cocktail hour featuring p.i.n.k.Vodka Lemonade Martinis and live music by harp guitarist David Powell. Next, guests moved into the dining room for their personalized five-course tableside dinner paired with donated local wines. Board Member Brad Goode of King 5 News emceed and acted as lead auctioneer for the evening, while Board Member Brian Olive introduced special guest speaker Kim Steppe. Laughter and cheer graced every guest in attendance. Kim Steppe spoke of her personal experiences with Alzheimer’s disease. Her husband,Tom Robbie, was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease a few years ago. Kim told of the trials her family now faces on a daily basis, but offered hope and inspiration for other families faced with the disease. The family travels together,Tom still bikes up to 100 miles a day, and their two young daughters lead full lives filled with friends and activities at their local school. Kim noted,“This may not be the reality that I had in mind for myself 20 years ago, but this is my reality now and I’m living it the best I can.”The Alzheimer’s Association wishes to thank Kim for offering courage and inspiration to all in attendance by sharing her story.
