TI/P 2592 e December 2009 Page 2 of 4 Lipoderm Liquor SAPropertiesLipoderm Liquor SA• Can be diluted with warm or cold water to form fine-particle emulsions, which are resistant to water hardness, acids and bases, as well as tovegetable, synthetic and, to a large extent, also mineral tanning agents.• Can be used in chrome tanning.• Compatible with all the usual anionic retanning agents, dyes and fatliquors• Can be used in combination with the cationic fatliquors in theLipoderm C Liquor range (formerly Lipamin ® Liquor range) to producecombination fatliquors.• Lipoderm Liquor SA can disperse up to 100 % of its weight of mineraloil and up to 50 % of its weight of natural fats and oils to form stableemulsions.• Contains no saponifiable ingredients.• Reduces the risk of fatty spew; can eliminate fatty spew.• Is lightfast and therefore especially suitable for white and pale leathers.ApplicationLipoderm Liquor SA is a universal fatliquoring agent for all types of leather. Before being added to the drum, Lipoderm Liquor SA is emulsified withwarm water in the ratio 1 : 1 to 1 : 2 and can then be diluted further at will.In combinations with unsulphonated fats and when combination fatliquorsare being produced the cationic proportion should not be larger than theanionic proportion. Combination fatliquors can be prepared either by weighingtogether the undiluted individual components and then diluting with hotwater or by mixing the separately prepared anionic and cationic emulsions. To increase the surface fatliquoring effect, unsulphonated oils orLipoderm Oil N1 can also be used. With the same quantities of pure fat, combination fatliquors produce somewhat softer leathers than purely anionicfatliquors and have proven to be especially effective for leathers that arevacuum dried.
