<strong>Modified</strong> <strong>Rules</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>TABLE</strong> <strong>TENNIS</strong>Our aim is to provide a fun non-threaten<strong>in</strong>g environment <strong>for</strong> all to enjoy. We can’t stress enough that these gamesare to be played <strong>in</strong> good spir<strong>it</strong>, so if you are an experienced player please identify yourself to us on the night. Theseries is designed <strong>for</strong> fun, f<strong>it</strong>ness and to meet new friends.RULES Teams will consist of 6 players. There will be a m<strong>in</strong>imum of 2 females on each night. If your team does nothave 2 females 2 of your games will be deemed a <strong>for</strong>fe<strong>it</strong> to your oppos<strong>it</strong>ion and will be declared a scratchmatch. The oppos<strong>in</strong>g team will get 3 po<strong>in</strong>ts and the <strong>for</strong>fe<strong>it</strong><strong>in</strong>g team will get 1 po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>for</strong> participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> eachgame. If add<strong>in</strong>g players dur<strong>in</strong>g the series these players MUST sign the declaration on your registration <strong>for</strong>m be<strong>for</strong>etak<strong>in</strong>g play starts. Teams may register as many players as they wish, although only 6 people may play each week. Players MUST be over 18yrs of age. Footwear must be worn at all times. Except where stated <strong>in</strong> our rules, normal Table Tennis rules apply. A player from each team must sign and accept the scorecard at the completion of each game. A grade players or exceptional Table Tennis Players will be required to use their non preferred hand. Playersare asked to make themselves known prior to the first game. A Darw<strong>in</strong> Table Tennis representative will alsobe present to identify exceptional players.FORMAT Teams will be broken up <strong>in</strong>to 3 sets of pairs (A,B,C or 1,2,3); each pair will play 2 games and umpire/score 1game; The females may be broken <strong>in</strong>to the pairs however your team decides Each doubles team must rema<strong>in</strong> the same throughout the even<strong>in</strong>g There will be a 5 m<strong>in</strong>ute <strong>in</strong>terval between each game.


The order of play shall be (see attached diagram):Game 1 Play 1A & 2BUmpire 3CGame 2 Play 3A & 2CUmpire 1BGame 3 Play 1C & 3BUmpire 2A Games MUST start on time due to our book<strong>in</strong>g times w<strong>it</strong>h the venue. If a team is more that 5 m<strong>in</strong>utes late,the match will be deemed a <strong>for</strong>fe<strong>it</strong>. A scratch match may be organised, but po<strong>in</strong>ts will be awarded to the teamreceiv<strong>in</strong>g the orig<strong>in</strong>al <strong>for</strong>fe<strong>it</strong>.SCORING Each game is won by the pair w<strong>it</strong>h the highest score at the end of 10 m<strong>in</strong>utes. If one pair has served moretimes that the other pair the score is taken from the last time the amount of serves was equal. 3 po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>for</strong> a w<strong>in</strong>, 2 po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>for</strong> a draw, 1 po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>for</strong> a loss, 0 <strong>for</strong> a <strong>for</strong>fe<strong>it</strong> 2012 Corporate Cup overall trophy is 8 po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>for</strong> a w<strong>in</strong>, 6 po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>for</strong> runner up, 4 po<strong>in</strong>ts <strong>for</strong> mak<strong>in</strong>g a semi f<strong>in</strong>aland 2 po<strong>in</strong>t <strong>for</strong> participation.UMPIRING One player will umpire the game whilst another (from the oppos<strong>in</strong>g team) will keep score. Each team will provide one player as the umpire/score taker <strong>for</strong> each game to ensure <strong>it</strong> is as fair as possible. For any major discrepancies there will be a Darw<strong>in</strong> Table Tennis representative present each week. Allplayers are encouraged to read the Table Tennis rules as teams will be self umpir<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> the compet<strong>it</strong>ion. Unsportsmanlike behaviour will not be tolerated at any time and may result <strong>in</strong> your team be<strong>in</strong>g penalized.FINALS WEEKAfter the two weeks of rounds, the top four teams will make up the Semi-F<strong>in</strong>als. The w<strong>in</strong>ner of each Semi-F<strong>in</strong>alwill go <strong>in</strong>to the Grand F<strong>in</strong>al, which will be on the same night.Everyone else will have a match too! Each team will play the team nearest them on the overall stand<strong>in</strong>gs. Play<strong>in</strong>gtimes will not be the same as <strong>for</strong> the first five rounds, and will be advised as soon as possible. Your flexibil<strong>it</strong>y isappreciated.Don’t <strong>for</strong>get the umpire is ALWAYS right!!MOST IMPORTANTLY… Have FUN and enjoy the compet<strong>it</strong>ion!!!
