It passed with honors, connectingthe hospital’s radiology department withmedical imaging of the future.The radiology team at Sint-Rembert,situated between two major regionalhospitals at Roeselare and Bruges, is youngand enthusiastic. Under the direction ofDr. Geert Biebau, Head of Radiology andMedical Director of the hospital, threeradiologists have been striving to providetop-notch care to their patients. A strongfocus on technological advancements iskey to their ability to meet the referringclinician’s expectations.Dr. Biebau knows this technology focusalso requires accepting an increasinglydigital dimension to all their activities.“We have embraced the idea thatup-to-date digital technology is essentialto providing the best patient care andmost accurate information to referringdoctors and clinicians.” Dr. Biebau’s teamperforms examinations at the hospital site,but for MRI, they use facilities at nearbyhospitals in Bruges and at the seaside.Most modalities, such as MRI, cardio-CTand mammography, require more intenseinvolvement by the radiologist and alsostretch the performance and ergonomicdemands of the underlying PACSinfrastructure. “This requires pushingthe boundaries of processing speed,user-friendliness and flexibility,” saysDr. Biebau. “So when <strong>Agfa</strong> <strong>HealthCare</strong>proposed our testing their new integratedIMPAX solution, called Agility, we did nothesitate.”IMPAX Agility is a new solution indevelopment at <strong>Agfa</strong> <strong>HealthCare</strong>.
