It aims toprovide quality information and offer the College value for money.The department seeks to market the College courses in an honest, friendly and professionalway and assist other departments in achieving their marketing goals. It endeavours to treateveryone who uses its services fairly.<strong>JOB</strong> PURPOSETo effectively promote the College and its course offer to key stakeholders, particularlyprospective students and parents, through a number of communication strategies includingevents, presentations, printed information. To strengthen and develop relationships with anumber of schools and careers advisers located both in the borough of Richmond and outsidethe area. To work with key colleagues on planning and promoting the College anddeveloping creative, practical and effective schools liaison strategies. To project managespecific tasks as directed by the Departmental Manager, Marketing & Communications orother senior college personnel.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo organise and lead a programme of visits to schools, principally in the local Boroughand some parts of the London region, to give talks at assemblies, parents evenings,careers fairs on post-16 Further Education, student life and the student journey andRichmond upon Thames College providing high quality advice and guidance. Theseevents may require travelling to different parts of London and may be early morning orevenings events.To produce presentation slides for members of college staff to use at promotional eventsensuring content is current and information is presented to comply with branding andhouse style guidelines and is relevant to target audience. To compile and producemarketing materials for distribution at internal and external school events consistent withhouse style.To produce and present targeted relevant presentations to external stakeholders egprospective students and parents at careers fairs, parents evenings.To plan, manage and organise a comprehensive schools liaison programme of activitiesfor year 10 and year 11 students and to exploit opportunities for the College to beinvolved in working with secondary schools.To be a key contact between the College and Borough Schools over the arrangements forYear 11 applications ensuring their timely submission and early interview of potentialstudents. To proactively develop and maintain strong relationships with key personnel inschools and be the key contact for initial enquiries both locally and regionally and act as areferral point within the College.


To identify and develop opportunities to work with local primary schools using taster daysand special events for pupils and their parents.To manage an annual student ambassador programme including recruitment and trainingof students to help promote the College at various events.To form positive and productive relationships with careers advisers in local schools andkey regional out-of-borough schools. Ensure careers advisers are regularly briefed oncurriculum developments in the College and provided with progression information onpast pupils through events and written communication.To deliver promotional / networking / celebration events in order to raise the profile ofthe College and encourage links with schools (primary and secondary) and other keystakeholders.To have a good understanding of the National Curriculum and the links between the KeyStages and the wider 14-19 curriculum development agenda to exploit new opportunitiesfor further partnership working and participating in Borough events, such as CareersFairs.To provide periodic reports on recruitment patterns from schools with trend analysis toinform marketing and promotional plans and to identify risks that could damage thereputation of the College and impact on student recruitment.To provide analysis and evaluation reports on the impact of the schools liaisonprogramme.To manage and co-ordinate direct mailings to schools, careers advisors, Richmondborough students and assist colleagues with distribution of materials.To liaise with members of the marketing team and provide relevant information forpromotional activity including press releases, social media, website content.To obtain competitive quotes for marketing collateral and materials includingpromotional items and printed materials and produce purchase orders and maintainrecords to assist the Departmental Manager in marketing budget monitoring.To work as part of the marketing team to support key events and initiatives and realiserecruitment targets.GENERAL DUTIESTo participate fully in Staff Appraisal according to the College requirements and undertaketraining as required.To keep up-to-date with Quality Improvement initiatives and to be aware of, and meet,service standards for the department.To propose any ideas that may help to promote and extend the College’s reputation andefficient running of the College.To undertake all duties and responsibilities in accordance with College policies inclusive ofEqual Opportunities, Data Protection, Child and Vulnerable Adult protection, Quality andFinancial regulations. To report any concerns to the appropriate person.To work safely, consider the safety of others and work within the guidelines stated in theCollege Health and Safety Policy.To be available to assist in enrolment procedures, which may require additional hoursincluding evenings and weekends, for example during the Autumn Term.


To work flexibly, which may include evenings, open days, parents' evenings and possiblyweekends.To undertake any other duties commensurate with your level of responsibility as may berequired by the Senior Leadership Team or a member of the College Leadership Team, inorder to ensure the efficient functioning of the College.<strong>CANDIDATE</strong> <strong>SPECIFICATION</strong>The successful candidate will fulfil the following essential requirements, and will also ideallyhold the desirable attributes.The selection process will involve assessments being made on the extent to which applicantsmeet the criteria listed in the table below.The methods by which each of the selection criteria are expected to be assessed areidentified in the table.AF = Application FormI = Interview PE = Practical Exercise(s)Abilities/Skills/ExperienceESSENTIAL DESIRABLE LIKELY TO BE TESTEDBYProven experience of working within a AF/Ipost-16 education or training functionsupporting 14-19 year olds.Experience of providing information and AF/I/PEadvice to young people and their parents/ carers.Significant experience as a confident and AF/I/PEeffective public speaker/presenter andacting in an ambassadorial role for theCollege.Experience of liaising confidently with a AF/Irange of stakeholders (internal andexternal) and building effective workingrelationships in the development ofstudent recruitment and wideningparticipation activities.Proven experience of effectiveAF/I/PEorganisational and planning skills toensure deadlines are met and projectscompleted successfully.Experience of working within a marketingAF/Idepartment.Experience of producing written copy and AF/I/PEpresentation materials.Excellent and effective communication AF/I/PEand interpersonal skills, including theability to develop relationships andinfluence others.Excellent team working skills with aAF/Irecord of working co-operatively toachieve individual and team goals.Excellent IT skills including use of Word, AF/I/PEExcel, Outlook, PowerPoint and otherpackages to support efficientcommunication, recording of informationand an innovative approach topresentation and delivery.KnowledgeAn understanding of marketing and AF/I/PE

AFADDITIONAL INFORMATIONAnnual leave entitlement is 29 days per year, rising to 32 days per year after 5 years’service, plus 3 days for planned closures of the College, and Bank/Public holidays normallyobserved in England and Wales.The appointment will be subject to suitable references, medical clearance, enhanceddisclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), evidence of eligibility to work inthe UK and evidence of qualifications.All of the above checks must have been completed before the start of the employment.Confirmation of appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a ten monthprobationary period.This job description/candidate specification is subject to periodic review.
