YEAR 4General ObjectivesAt the end of Year 4, the students should be able to :1. perform history taking, physical examination, formulate provisional and differentialdiagnoses, justify relevant investigations and plan patient management utilizinghospital information system, taking into consideration principle of growth anddevelopment, needs of patients and their families in relation to emergency, deathand dying as well as uncertainties, medico-legal and ethical issues.2. apply knowledge and skills in forensic medicine competently as to comply withrelevant legislation.3. function as an effective leader and demonstrate a sense of responsibility in self andprofessional development and life long learning ability as a junior doctor.Specific ObjectivesAt the end of Year 4, the students should be able to :1. demonstrate complete history taking relevant to the respective discipline.2. perform complete examination relevant to the respective discipline.3. formulate Provisional Diagnosis and Differential Diagnosis.4. identify and justify the relevant investigations, cost consideration and interpretationsof the result5. perform common relevant procedures correctly.6. explain relevant procedures including their indications and complications.7. differentiate between normal psychological responses and disorders.8. relate the knowledge of normal growth, physical and emotional development toclinical disorders9. plan the basic principles in the management of patients in the respective disciplines.10. apply the pharmacological knowledge of drugs commonly used in terms ofefficacy, safety, suitability and cost11. demonstrate good communication skills appropriate to the situation.12. explain the impact of illness on the community.13. recommend health education program to individual, family and community egimmunization, exercise, nutrition and prevention of blindness.14. apply basic life support (BLS) methods in the appropriate situations and becertified in the Newborn Resuscitation Programme (NRP).15. explain the needs of patients and their families in relation to difficult situationssuch as emergencies, dying, death and uncertainties.16. apply knowledge and skill of forensic medicine (pathology & psychiatry)competently as to comply with relevant legislation.
