Fakulti Perubatan • 755. 2 YEAR 2General ObjectivesBy the end of Year 2, students should be able to :1. explain the structures and functions of, the pathological process, effects andcomplications of common diseases in the musculoskeletal, blood and lymph,cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary, reproductive and nervoussystems and the principle of drug action.2. perform history taking, physical examination and basic clinical procedures.3. interpret results of basic laboratory investigations in the diagnosis of commondiseases.4. compare and contrast the approaches used in the health care services, in theprovision of comprehensive and holistic care to patients, families and thecommunity, as well as groups with special needs and those related to occupationaland environmental problems.5. apply critical thinking, demonstrate leadership, effective communication skills,basic principles of religious and cultural values in dealing with patients, colleaguesand the community.6. demonstrate the ability to utilize various resources to obtain relevant and currentinformation.Specific ObjectivesBy the end of Year 2, students should be able to :1. describe the anatomy and explain the physiology of the following organ systems :i. Musculoskeletal systemii. Blood and lymphiii. Cardiovascular systemiv. Respiratory systemv. Gastrointestinal systemvi. Urinary systemvii. Reproductive system2. discuss the aetiology, pathological processes, effects and complications, anddescribe the pathological changes of common diseases affecting them.3. perform physical examination of the above organ systems in a normal person aswell as take his/her history.4. interpret the results of basic laboratory investigations in the diagnosis of commondiseases of the above organ systems.
