Students will complete this module in four weeks.This module consists of mini lectures, case-based tutorial, laboratoryactivities, computer skills, laboratory skills, class discussion, seminars, andextramural activities.The Reproductive System (S2.1) ModuleThe birth of a baby is a joyous occasion. Only a woman can conceive, deliverand breastfeed her new born. A healthy pregnant woman giving birth to ahealthy baby via the normal delivery process is an ideal picture. With theinvention of many new methods and technologies, this has contributed tomany ethical and social problems. The reproductive system also deals withthe normal structure and physiological process, namely the changes in thehormones and the subsequent reproductive organ during menstruation andpost-menopause. There will be abnormalities in the reproductive structuresand functions leading to potential and serious diseases. This may be dueto the infection, congenital disease, malignancy and inflammation. Amongothers are vaginal discharges, congenital abnormalities due to TORCHinfection, cervix and breast cancer and infertility. As the reproductivesystem embraces the human life, students will find this topic interesting.The complexity and integration of the system also include ethical concepts,public health issue and epidemiological tools using certain statisticmethods and research approach. We provide a sequence integrated learningopportunities through lectures, laboratory activities, laboratory skills, classdiscussions, extramural activities and tutorial as the core of problem basedlearning. Finally, we hope that the students will strive hard to achievesuccess in this course which will be conducted in 16 weeks.Endocrine and Metabolism System (S3.1) ModuleA healthy human being closely related to the hormones coordinating andmaintaining the metabolism process. The endocrine system is instrumentalin regulating mood, growth and development, tissue function metabolismand sexual function and reproductive processes. The nervous systemand endocrine system work together to help the body function properly.Too much or too little of any hormone can be harmful to our body. Therewill be abnormalities of the endocrine structures and functions leading topotential and serious diseases. This includes the infection process, abnormalmetabolism congenital disease, growth and development. Among others arethe short stature, the disturbance of sexual hormonal production, and theabnormalities of carbohydrate metabolism. The endocrine system is relatedto the human life, from a cell to organism and from infancy to elderly.Students will find this topic interesting. This system includes ethical
