Shooting Matters – CompetitionsOpen DaysThe <strong>NRA</strong> will hold the next Open Day at Bisley onSaturday 30 April. NSC runs the admin for the OpenDays, but all the shooting is under the supervision of<strong>NRA</strong>-appointed coaches. A dispensation under theFirearms Acts allows anyone who registers (subjectto age limits) to fire under supervision. A registrationfee of £15 (over 14 years of age) or £5 (10 to 14 years ofage) will be payable. Sheets of tickets (ten £1 tickets)may then be purchased, which may be used aroundthe ranges to shoot a number of different firearmsranging from air pistol to all varieties of fullbore rifles.We are seeking experienced shooters, who aremembers of the <strong>NRA</strong>, to help coach or supervise thegeneral public at the above event. Please let all your friends knowabout the Day and encourage them to attend.Phoenix MeetingThe Phoenix Meeting is being held over the weekendof Friday 27 May to Monday 30 May. We are delightedthat Midway UK are continuing their headlinesponsorship of this <strong>NRA</strong> flagship event. You can findMidway at the Trade Fair during the weekend.The Phoenix Meeting has something to suit everyone– from pellet pistols to solid slug, from 7 metres to1000 yards, this flagship Meeting has something tosuit everyone’s tastes.You can enter online via the <strong>NRA</strong> website from 14March or download an entry form to post from26 March. Early online entries will be entered ina free draw to win a refund of your entry fee. The<strong>NRA</strong> Gallery <strong>Rifle</strong> and Pistol and Phoenix MeetingHandbook is available free of charge from the <strong>NRA</strong>offices, or will be available to download on the <strong>NRA</strong>website from the end of March. Copies can also beposted for £1 post and packing.Inter-Counties MeetingThe Inter-Counties Meeting has been reformattedafter valuable input from competitors. The individualcompetition has been expanded, and the teamcompetitions will commence after lunch on Saturday11 June.The first match, held on the Saturday morning, isthe R Jarvis, which has been opened up to all targetrifle shooters, not just those competing in the Inter-Counties Team Matches. This individual match nowfollows a Queen’s I format of 2ss and 7 to count at 300,500 and 600 yards.6For those not involved in the team matches, therewill be another individual competition at 900 and100 yards in the afternoon. Entry forms will beavailable shortly. This is an ideal opportunity for theinexperienced shooter to compete at Bisley underformal match conditions and gain some experiencebefore the Imperial Meeting.After lunch, the Lt Col H Jones Memorial Trophyis the first part of the team match with eight firersfrom a squad of ten shooting a Queen’s II. The toptwenty-five teams from the H Jones qualify to continueon to the <strong>NRA</strong> Long Range Team Match on Sundaymorning. This is shot on Stickledown following theQueen’s Final format of 2ss and 15 to count at 900and 1000 yards. Those teams who don’t qualify willcompete in the Counties Short Range Match held atthe same time on Century under Queen’s II conditionsof 2ss and 10 to count at 300, 500 and 600 yards.<strong>NRA</strong> 300 Metres ChampionshipsThe <strong>NRA</strong> 300 Metres Championships will be held overthe weekend 14 and 15 May. The Championshipsinclude prone and three positional competitions forTR/Standard <strong>Rifle</strong> and Free <strong>Rifle</strong>. Entry forms areavailable on the <strong>NRA</strong> website and from the <strong>NRA</strong>Offices.Imperial MeetingDatesThis year’s Imperial Meeting will run from Wednesday29 June to Saturday 23 July starting with the CivilianService <strong>Rifle</strong>/Practical <strong>Rifle</strong> events and ending withHM The Queen’s Prize Final on Final Saturday.Entry FormsThe individual TR/MR and F Class entry forms maynow be downloaded from the <strong>NRA</strong> website. However,online entry is easier, quicker and more accurateand will save a postage stamp! All online entries areuploaded directly to the Imperial Meeting entry andstats database, saving many hours of manual entry,reducing errors and making your entry more secure.If you are able to enter the Imperial Meeting onlineplease do so.The paper TR/MR entry form is in its usual formatof an A3 folded sheet perforated down the centre.Pages 1 and 2 contain important notes on completingthe entry form correctly: it is essential that these notesare read carefully before the entry form is completed.The actual entry form is on pages 3 and 4. Themajority of competitors will only need to completepage 3 (personal details, block entries and financialreconciliation). Only those competitors wishing toenter single events will need to complete page 4. Pages1 and 2 should be kept for reference and only the entryform on pages 3 and 4 should be returned.
