They can be used inopen or closed tanks and installations handlingwater, swimming pool water, sea water, brine, ethylene glycol or other liquids not harmful tothe specified materials. The switches haveSPDT contacts and can be wired to close onecircuit and open a second circuit when the liquidlevel rises above or falls below the requiredlevel. The switch maintains the liquid levelwithin (approx.) 13 mm.There are three different types available. Thephosphor bronze bellows version for use inapplications where the liquid is not corrosive tophosphor bronze. The stainless steel bellowsversion for use in environments like coolingtowers ( water with high calcium content) and acomplete stainless steel AISI 316L version. Allmaterials in contact with the liquid are specifiedin the part “specifications”. At doubt about theliquid used with regards to these materials it isadvised to contact the liquid supplier. Thesefloat switches should not be used for liquidslighter than water ( density less than 0.95kg/dm 3 ).F63 Float SwitchFeature and Benefitsq Solid polycarbonate floatq Vapour tight IP 67 enclosureq Convenient wiring terminalsq Three modelsWill not accumulate liquid and providesdependable level detection.Allows for use in indoor and outdoor as wellas low temperature applicationsMakes wiring convenient and easilyaccessible. For many different types of liquids© 1997 Johnson Controls Inc. 2F63Issue 9705N oteThese controls are designed for use onlyas operating controls. Where an operatingcontrol failure would result in personalinjury or loss of property, it is theresponsibility of the installer to adddevices or systems that protect against, orwarn of, control failure.Suggested circuits for controlling “Fill” and“Dump” levels with larger differences betweenminimum and maximum levels.DumpF H! CautionDo not use with hazardous fluids or inhazardous atmosphere.FillF LI nstallationTo allow the switch to respond to changes inthe liquid levels, the float must not touch theside of the tank or any other obstructions.Install the F63 in a 1” threaded horizontal tankopening ( see “ specifications” ) at the heightwhere the liquid level is to be maintained.Position the switch with the arrow on theenclosure pointing “up” for proper operation. Aspecial vapour proof PG-16 nipple for cableinlet is delivered with the control. This nipplehas to be used to keep the control vapour tight.FillR S TFig. 3L 3 3NF HR A1 1RpumpF LM3 ~PUMPFig. 4R A= Aux. contact pump relayFig. 1L2 2W iring 3 2DumpR S TR AF H1 1F L1Fig. 2Contact function1 to 2 closes on liquid level rise.M3 ~PUMPNFig. 5RpumpCatalogue Section 3© 1997 Johnson Controls Inc.Order No. PD-F63-E
