Policies & ProceduresAs in all communities, the residence halls at <strong>Aurora</strong><strong>University</strong> are governed by policies and procedures.Residents are expected to comply with these at alltimes. Upon check-in, all students will be provided withaccess to the A-Book, which lists <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong>’sstudent policies/procedures, and the Residence HallGuidebook, detailing community resources,expectations, and policies/procedures. Students willsign for these publications, indicating an awareness thatthey are responsible for reading and understanding thepolicies and procedures as outlined. Both publicationsare available on our webpage, www.aurora.edu/student-life/residence/index.html.Safety & SecurityThe residence halls are locked24 hours/day. Student ID cardsare programmed for access tothe assigned residence hall.Only those students assignedto that residence hall have access to that building.All guests to the residence halls must be registered.More information on this process will be provided whenstudents arrive in the fall.A Residence Hall Director is on duty each day of theweek, in addition to two Resident Assistants for eacharea. Duty RAs walk the buildings and carry radiosconnecting them to the RHD and Campus Public Safety.Campus Public Safety dispatch is staffed 24 hours/daywith both students and professionals. Full-time officersmake hourly rounds of campus and respond to issuesand concerns in and out of the residence halls.Parental Notification<strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong> is committed to informing andeducating its students, faculty and staff in the preventionof identity theft. To promote this program and inaccordance with the Family Education Rights and PrivacyAct (FERPA) which requires that colleges and universitiesprotect the privacy of student records and studentidentity, it is <strong>Aurora</strong> <strong>University</strong>’s policy to NOT releasecertain information to anyone other than the studentunless the student has given us express writtenpermission to do so. This limitation includes PARENTS andSPOUSES.To submit a completed FERPA authorization form, thestudent must log on to their account on WebAdvisor andclick on “FERPA Release Information.” This form allowsstudents to provide other named individuals with accessto the following information:Academic Information (registration, academicprogress, enrollment status, attendance, academicprobation)Center for Teaching and Learning (tutoring received)Class Schedule or Grades/GPAFinancial Aid (awards, application data,disbursements, eligibility, financial aid academicprogress status)Residence Life (housing information)Student Accounts (billing information, charges,credits, payments etc.)Student Insurance (enrollment status, claim status)Currently this form does not include Judicial Affairs/student conduct information, which requires a separaterelease of information, available from the Office ofStudent Life.
