Stimulating the Developmentin AfricaGabon Télécom/LibertisDuring 2009, the net turnover of the bulk of Gabon Telecom’s activities (owned at51% by Maroc Telecom since February 2007) stood at MAD 1,220 million, up 2.8%(+3.7% at constant exchange rate). The Mobile park stood at end-2009 to 513,000customers, up 15% from end 2008. Gabon Telecom’s Landline fleet had 36 460 linesin late 2009, up 9% as compared to 2008 and the number of Internet customersreached nearly 20,210, up 43% as compared to 2008.Gabon Telecom - Landline and internet activitiesThe Landline fleet accounted for, inlate December 2009, 36,460 lines, up10% as compared to 2008, despiteincreased competition and a slowingdown of the market. Gabon Telecomhas maintained its leadership in 2009,by continuing to develop innovativesolutions while expanding its directand indirect retailer network.In January 2009, Gabon Telecom launched the “Ogooué” prepaid card, providingattractive rates to all international Libertis landline and mobile subscribers.Gabon Telecom continued its actionsto promote Internet development inGabon, with further price drops onthe Free net (CDMA) while increasingthroughput. The Internet park reached20,210 lines by late 2009, up 46%compared to 2008, including 3,807customers for broadband ADSL. Thenumber of ADSL internet lines by theend of 2009 amounted to nearly 19%of the total internet park.Internet activity was marked by the launch of the CDMA Internet USB dongle, retailedat 150,000 FCFA. The Internet offer for Businesses has expanded with the launch ofADSL+: an ADSL connection of up to 2MB speeds (min 256KB), a pool of 8 public IPlandline addresses 1 domain name, 10 email addresses with a 100KB capacity, anda 50 MB of capacity for website hosting.2009 Annual Report
