But lest you think I don'tknow about disappointment with God, I am going <strong>to</strong> tell a little of myowns<strong>to</strong>ry, and I am sure you have your own s<strong>to</strong>ry <strong>to</strong> tell <strong>to</strong>o.As a child I grew up loving what was good, honest, kind, and fair. Call itgood parenting, or good genes; I admired whatever is good. That waswhere myheart was, although sadly sometimes I acted like most boys-- somewhatrough<strong>to</strong>ward others. But that was not really me, that was simply the child attimeswho imitated what he grew up around. By my early teens, I had begun<strong>to</strong> sor<strong>to</strong>ut who I was, and that I didn't want <strong>to</strong> follow the crowd. I wanted <strong>to</strong>do whatwas right in life. God was kind enough <strong>to</strong> miraculously save me, verysimilar<strong>to</strong> how he saved Saul on the road <strong>to</strong> Damascus. It was dramatic enoughthat Ididn't have <strong>to</strong> wonder about Him being there. The first seven years ofbeing aChristian were so wonderful. He gave me the answers I needed <strong>to</strong> dealwithadolescence. He gave me purpose, and made me feel special andloved. I canhonestly say Christ <strong>to</strong>tally changed my life. The first approx. sevenyearswere as sweet as honey. I never felt disappointed with God, it was like ahoneymoon. I never thought the honeymoon would ever end.Between my first and second years at West Point, I used my leave time<strong>to</strong> go <strong>to</strong>Israel. Israel brought me <strong>to</strong> my spiritual senses. I realized that I was aconscientious objec<strong>to</strong>r, and that Uncle Sam had enough cannon fodder.I wanted<strong>to</strong> be in the Lord's army, where I knew the Lord was finding it hard <strong>to</strong>
