JOINT TACTICS, TECHNIQUES, AND PROCEDURES FORUNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLESPREFACE1. Purpose. This publication sets forth joint tactics, techniques, andprocedures (JTTP) to govern the joint activities and performance of theArmed Forces of the United States in joint operations as well as thedoctrinal basis for US military involvement in multinational andinteragency operations. It provides military guidance for the exerciseof authority by combatant commanders and other joint force commandersand prescribes doctrine and selected tactics, techniques, and proceduresfor joint operations and training. It provides military guidance foruse by the Armed Forces in preparing their appropriate plans. It is notthe intent of this publication to restrict the authority of the jointforce commander (JFC) from organizing the force and executing themission in a manner the JFC deems most appropriate to ensure unity ofeffort in the accomplishment of the overall mission.2. Applicationa. Joint tactics, techniques, and procedures established in thispublication apply to the commanders of combatant commands, subunifiedcommands, joint task forces, and subordinate components of thesecommands. These principles and guidance also may apply whensignificant forces of one Service are attached to forces of anotherService or when significant forces of one Service support forces ofanother Service.b. In applying the JTTP set forth in this publication, care must betaken to distinguish between distinct but related responsibilities inthe two channels of authority to forces assigned to combatantcommands. The Military Departments and Services recruit, organize,train, equip, and provide forces for assignment to combatant commandsand administer and support these forces. This authority is, by law,subject to the provisions of title 10, United States Code, chapter 6,which is the section that details the authority of combatantcommanders. Commanders of the unified and specified commands exercisecombatant command (command authority) over their assigned forces.Service component commanders are subject to the orders of combatantcommanders and, subject to the combatantiii
