Airbag SRSCHILD SEATSIt is recommended that children should always be seated inthe rear of the vehicle, in a child safety seat or restraint systemappropriate to their age and size (see ‘Seat belts’).NOTE: Accident statistics showthat children are safer whenproperly restrained in the rearseating positions than in thefront.If it is necessary for a child is to travel in the front, it is essentialthat the vehicle seat is set fully rearwards and that the child isseated in a FRONT FACING child safety seat, whichprevents any part of the child’s head coming into closeproximity with the side airbag (note the warning label shownabove).DO NOT install a rearwardfacing child seat in thefront passenger seat - aninflating airbag could impactwith the seat. Failure to followthis advice could result inserious injury or even death forthe child.36
