Cleaning & Vehicle CareRemoving tar spotsUse white spirit to remove tar spots and stubborn grease stainsfrom the paintwork. Then wash the area immediately withsoapy water to remove all traces of the spirit.Body protectionAfter washing, examine the paintwork for damage. Treatpaint chips and scratches with a <strong>Rover</strong> paint touch-up pencil.If the damage has revealed bare metal, use a coloured primerfirst, then apply the correct colour base coat and finish offwith a lacquer pencil, if appropriate. Carry out this treatmentafter washing but before polishing or waxing.More extensive damage to paint or bodywork must berepaired in accordance with the manufacturer’sre<strong>com</strong>mendations. Failure to do this will invalidate theAnti-Corrosion Warranty. If in doubt, ask your <strong>Rover</strong> dealerfor advice.Polishing the paintworkOccasionally treat the paint surface with an approved polishcontaining the following properties:• Very mild abrasives to remove surface contaminationwithout removing or damaging the paint.• Filling <strong>com</strong>pounds that will fill scratches and reduce theirvisibility.• Wax to provide a protective coating between the paint andthe elements.Wiper bladesWash in warm soapy water. DO NOT use spirit or petrolbased cleaners.Care point: DO NOT use carpolish containing coarseabrasives - these will remove thepaint film and damage the glossfinish.Care point: If possible, avoidapplying polish or wax productsto window glass and rubberseals.160
