TyresPunctured tyresYour car is fitted with tubeless tyres, which may not leak ifpenetrated by a sharp object, provided the object remains inthe tyre. If you are aware of this occurring, reduce speedimmediately and drive with caution until the spare wheel canbe fitted.A puncture of this kind will eventually cause the tyre to losepressure, which is why regular (and frequent) checking of tyrepressures is important. Punctured or damaged tyres must bepermanently repaired or replaced as soon as possible. DONOT DRIVE WITH A PUNCTURED TYRE!Replacement tyresWheel rims and tyres are matched to suit the handlingcharacteristics of the car. Changing the specification of awheel or tyre can adversely affect the car’s handling and,ultimately, your own safety in emergency road situations.To be safe, ONLY fit replacement tyres that are identical tothe original specification shown in ‘Technical Data’ later in thishandbook. In addition, ensure that the load and speed ratingsshown on the side wall of each tyre are the same as those ofthe original equipment. Contact your <strong>Rover</strong> dealer forfurther information or assistance.Always have replacement wheels and tyres balanced beforeuse.DO NOT replace wheelswith any type other thangenuine <strong>Rover</strong> parts.Alternative wheels, which donot meet original equipmentspecifications may adverselyaffect the car’s drivingcharacteristics and should notbe fitted.SNOW CHAINSUnsuitable snow chains could damage the tyres, wheels,suspension, brakes or bodywork of your car. Only fit snowchains to cars that have been equipped with 195/65 R15 tyreson 6J wheels, and only fit chains that have beenre<strong>com</strong>mended by a <strong>Rover</strong> dealer and approved by <strong>Rover</strong> foruse on your car.In use, always observe the following precautions:• Fit snow chains to the front wheels only.• Always adhere to the snow chain fitting and retensioninginstructions and the speed limitations for varying roadconditions.• DO NOT exceed speeds of 30 mph (50 km/h).DO NOT fit unapprovedsnow chains - this coulddamage brake <strong>com</strong>ponents.Care point: Avoid tyre damageand excessive chain wear byremoving snow chains whendriving on snow free roads.158
