Parking AidParking aid in operationWith the starter switch turned to the second position, theparking aid operates automatically whenever reverse gear isselected and is switched off as soon as reverse is deselected. When reverse is selected a short ‘bleep’ will sound to confirmthat the system is working (Note that a one second delay willoccur before the ‘bleep’ sounds). While reversing:• If no obstruction is sensed, the warning chime will remainsilent.• If an obstruction is located within the 5 feet (1.5 m) rangeof the rear parking aid sensors or 2 feet (60 cm) of thecorner sensors, the warning commences chiming. As thecar moves closer to the obstruction, the chimes aretransmitted more rapidly.• Once the obstruction is within 14 inches (35 cm) of therear bumper, the chimes merge into a continuous warningtone.• If the distance between the car and an obstruction to theside of the car remains unchanged for over three seconds, the parking aid will switch off.Operating tip: Reduce the radiovolume while reversing - loudaudio sounds may ‘drown’ thewarning chimes.2NOTE: If a longer, higher pitched, sound is emitted (for a durationof 5 seconds) when reverse gearis selected, this indicates a faultwith the system - contact yourdealer for assistance.NOTE: In the case of carsequipped with factory fittedtowing equipment, the parkingaid will not operate while acaravan or trailer is hitched to thecar.133
