Automatic Transmission• Cold start modeIn very cold conditions the automatic transmission willstay in the lower gears for longer, to help the engine reachits normal operating temperature more quickly. This willhelp to improve overall fuel economy and driveability, andreduce emissions.• High coolant temperature modeIn high ambient temperatures during extreme loadconditions, it is possible for the engine and the gearbox tooverheat. At a certain temperature, the transmission willselect a gear change pattern designed to aid the coolingprocess, whilst enabling the gearbox to continueperforming normally in high temperatures.• Smooth change modeEngine torque is reduced during gear changes, creating amuch smoother ride.• Automatic neutral mode (diesel models only)To improve fuel economy and reduce emissions, thetransmission automatically selects neutral from a drive gearif the vehicle is stationary and the brake is applied.
