Catalytic ConverterDriving• Do not overload or excessively ‘rev’ the engine.• Do not switch off the engine when the car is in motionwith a drive gear selected.• Consult your dealer if you think your car is burning toomuch oil, as this will progressively reduce catalystefficiency.• If a misfire is suspected, or the car lacks power whiledriving, provided the engine has reached its normaloperating temperature, it may be driven SLOWLY (at riskof catalyst damage) to a <strong>Rover</strong> dealer.• Do not run the engine with a spark plug or lead removedor use any device that requires an insert into a spark plug.• Do not drive on terrain likely to subject the underside ofthe car to heavy impacts.NOTE: Any engine misfire, loss ofengine performance or enginerun-on, could seriously damagethe catalytic converter. For thisreason, it is vital that unqualifiedpersons do not tamper with theengine and that regularmaintenance is carried out by a<strong>Rover</strong> dealer in accordance withthe service interval plan in theService Portfolio book.102
