See First, Understand First, Act First and Finish Decisively.MAST MOUNTED SIGHT (MMS)DRS’ Mast Mounted Sight (MMS) is a uniquesurveillance system designed to meet the needs oftoday’s battlefield operations. The MMS is a multisensor, fully integrated electro-optical sighting systemwith visible and infrared capability. Designed to bemounted above a helicopter’s rotor, the MMS increasessurvivability through its capacity to identify and targetpotential threats in day, night and adverse weatherconditions. The MMS uses a combination of a high-resolutiontelevision camera, thermal imaging sensors and alaser rangefinder/designator to accomplish its mission. The imaging sensor package provides detection andrecognition at night and in inclement weather, while thelaser rangefinder/designator achieves precise targetdesignation for laser-guided weapons. Mounted abovethe rotor of a helicopter, the MMS provides naturalstealth and extended standoff range by allowing thecraft to hide behind existing terrain while maintaining360° surveillance. The MMS offers a solid image through its stabilized sensorsystem. Known as the “soft mount”, the stabilizationsystem isolates the sensors and boresight system fromvibration, pitch, yaw and roll motion.
