Geology of the Project area is underlain by deltaic and alluvial deposits of the Padma andMeghna River systems. The Geology of the area comprises recent, Holocene alluvial floodplain andprimarily predominant fine sandy, silt and clay-materials. The site lies on deep Cenozic depositsoverlying Precambrian basement rock. The Precambrian rocks form the basement of all thegeological formations of the Bengal Basin and shield areas.
