Residence permits:<br />

All international students who wish to stay in Freiburg have to register with the authorities at the Bürgeramt,<br />

Basler Strasse 2. They should then apply for a residence permit (Aufenthaltsgenehmigung) at the Foreign<br />

Nationals Office (Ausländeramt) which is in the same building.<br />

Health Insurance:<br />

International students who participate in a study abroad programme must have a valid health insurance<br />

certificate in order to be enrolled at the University of Education Freiburg. Students from any of the Nordic and<br />

EEA/EU countries have access to public medical services if they bring a confirmation of their affiliation to a<br />

Social Security Insurance in their home countries (European Health Insurance Card or E111). Non-EEA/EUcitizens<br />

should contact their local social insurance office before departure to Germany.<br />
