NewsletterIn addition it offers the following new functions:• Access recipe data for reading and writing.• Read trend buffers.• Read alarm buffers. All these new functions are also available whenthe panel is in Operation Mode.Information retrieved from the panel will besaved to the disk in a table in .csv format.UniOP panels support dual drivercommunication over the Ethernet port in additionto all of the above features. This would allowachieving very complex and powerful HMI andcommunication architectures based on UniOP.Ethernet connectivity requires one of thefollowing communication modules in UniOP:• TCM10• SCM11• SCM11-CMake sure the firmware version of the SCM11 isup to date.Other Features introduced withUniOP firmware 5.30Firmware 5.30 and Designer 6.04 include alsosome other interesting features.Support of 256 colors for all screen objects inpanels with TFT display. It is now possible touse 256 colors (obviously when supported bythe display) for all screen objects, text and touchbuttons included.Power-up macrosYou can define a sequence of macro commandsthat will be automatically executed one timewhen the panel starts. Very useful to initializeparameters and to choose what page will be firstshown to the user.Password protection for macrosIt is now possible to request the introduction of apassword in the middle of a sequence ofmacros.Details on all minor changes and bug fixes willbe published, as usual, at the moment of theofficial release on our website.Article II.The B GenerationFour years since they have been introduced, the high-end eTOP panels are receiving a majorperformance improvement. The panels with firmware type 58, such as the eTOP10, eTOP33, eTOP40and eTOP50 will be equipped with a brand new CPU and the firmware will become type 60.The new CPU board brings the processingpower of a 200 MHz, 64 bit MIPS processor andincludes a number of interesting new features:• 64K colors are supported in all TFT displays. This is corresponding to the '16 bit color'option in Windows. The higher number ofcolors is supported for all imported images.Photorealistic images are stunning.• Video input option to display images fromvideo cameras and/or a computer. Display upto four independent and simultaneous imagesusing the VMO10 optional external video inputmodule. Images can be easily resized andcropped. See more details below.• The second-generation eTOP panels willinclude 32MB of internal, non-removable,Panel Memory. The Panel Memory willcontain everything currently included in theSSFDC card. The internal Panel Memory willincrease the reliability of the panel whenworking in harsh environments. And you willnot have to trade reliability for flexibility as theT2003 hardware still includes a Flash Cardsocket. Using the 32 MB optional flash card, itis possible to update application and firmwarein much the same way as current product. Please note that the removable Flash Cardwill no longer be part of the standard delivery. Also the 8/16 MB Flash Cards will no longerbe offered and replaced by the 32 MB Card.• Models with TFT display support backlightdimming. This is a plus for all applications thatrequire reducing the brightness of the screenfor better readability and user comfort. Thebrightness can be reduced by a factor ofabout 50.UniOP Newsletter 20e01a.doc – 05.06.2005 2Communicate and Stay in Control

NewsletterTCM15 and TCM16The dual-protocol function has proved to be veryeffective and useful in real applications butcannot be used if the panel has only one serialcommunication port. The new TCM15 and TCM16 modules will helpstep over this limitation. The new modules will add one morecommunication port to panels like the ePAD03,ePAD05, and eTOP03. Please note that the newfunctionality will not be available for ePAD04and ePAD06. The additional communication portwill be available on the Aux Port. The TCM15 has an RS-232 interface while theTCM16 has an RS-422/RS-485 interface.Availability is now, pricing will be sent out soon. Please note to use this in the ePAD03, ePAD05and eTOP03, you need to order the H/W version39C or later. Hardware currently in stock and inthe field is not compatible with these modules.New Communication DriversNew interesting UniOP communication driversare now being introduced.Several other drivers have been improved orfixed. You may find detailed information in theknowledge base.Connect to Simatic S7 via EthernetThis communication driver is a completeimplementation of the PG/OP communicationservices supported by Simatic Ethernet. It allowsconnection to S7-300 and S7-400 equipped withCP343-1 and CP443-1 communication modulesor to the CPUs with integrated Ethernet port. This protocol is based on TCP/IP and requiresSCM11. At the moment we support onlyconnection at 10Mb.You may download the driver file D32uplc178.dlland the technical note Tn195-0 from theKnowledge Base.Connect to Mitsubishi Q Series PLCsConnect to the programming port of theMitsubishi Q series PLCs with this new driver. You may download the driver file D32uplc201.dlland the technical note Tn205-0 from theKnowledge Base.More flexibility and performance from theCANopen HMI driverThe existing CANopen driver has been quitesuccessful, as we can measure from the numberof applications we had in the last couple ofyears. The experience has shown how the CANcommunication between controllers and HMIcan be improved and optimized. The new CANopen HMI driver is based on PDOcommunication (rather than SDO as the olderone) and offer more flexibility and higherperformance while reducing the processing loadon the controller. The HMI is now working as a client instead of asa server. The Controller needs a simple programto work as a server. This program is fairly simpleto implement in any controller type. Currently wehave working samples for connection to:• CoDeSys• Moeller XC• GE Fanuc Series 90• ISaGRAFMore implementations are likely to come in thefuture. You may download the driver file D32uplc200.dlland the technical note Tn206-1 from theKnowledge Base. CANopen HMI requiresTCM09.Connect to Compumotor 6KThis new driver has been designed forconnection to the Parker Compumotor 6Kmotion controllers. The driver has been included in the existingD32uplc047.dll.You may download the driver file from the website.UniOP Newsletter 20e01a.doc – 05.06.2005 5Communicate and Stay in Control
